Joint Mock Drill Conducted by Police, RPF and GRP at Rajnandgaon Railway Station

Security agencies simulate emergency situations, conduct intensive checking of trains and station premises to strengthen preparedness

A comprehensive joint mock drill exercise was conducted at the local railway station on Wednesday by the district police, Railway Protection Force (RPF), Government Railway Police (GRP), and railway authorities.

The exercise was carried out under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Ankita Sharma and under the leadership of Additional Superintendent of Police Keertan Rathore.

Intensive Security Checks Conducted

During the mock drill, security inspection drives were carried out on the Lokmanya Tilak Special Train running from Mumbai to Bhubaneswar and the Chhattisgarh Express operating between Bilaspur and Delhi.

In addition to train inspections, intensive checking operations were conducted across the railway station premises and platforms.

Emergency Situations Simulated During Drill

As part of the exercise, authorities simulated several emergency scenarios, including:

  • Stampede-like situations caused by excessive crowding
  • Sudden collapse or unconsciousness of passengers
  • Discovery of suspicious unattended baggage

The mock drill recreated realistic emergency conditions to test coordination and response efficiency among different security agencies.

Coordinated Response by Security Agencies

During the exercise, joint teams of police personnel, RPF, and GRP acted swiftly to control crowds and safely evacuate passengers to secure locations.

Passengers were guided through designated evacuation routes and Foot Over Bridges (FOBs) to ensure systematic and safe movement during emergency situations.

Officials stated that the entire operation was conducted in a controlled and peaceful manner.

Demonstration of Emergency Preparedness

The mock drill successfully demonstrated:

  • Crowd management techniques
  • Security cordoning procedures
  • Inspection of suspicious objects
  • Emergency response coordination
  • Rescue and evacuation operations

Authorities said the exercise highlighted the preparedness and rapid response capability of all participating departments in handling potential emergencies at busy railway stations.

Objective of the Exercise

According to the police department, the primary objective of such joint drills is to strengthen coordination among various agencies, enhance railway security systems, and ensure quick and effective action during any emergency situation.

Officials added that regular preparedness exercises are essential to maintaining passenger safety and improving emergency response mechanisms at public transport hubs.
