Dongargarh MLA Harshita Baghel leads protest; agitation withdrawn after administration assures positive action on the demand

The Congress, under the leadership of Dongargarh MLA Harshita Baghel, staged a road blockade (chakka jam) in Thelkadih of Khairagarh-Chhuikhadan-Gandai district on Thursday to press for the construction of a separate college building.
According to the protesters, both the school and the college are currently functioning from the same campus, affecting students’ education and creating difficulties in the academic environment. They said the demand for an independent college building has been pending for a long time, and the lack of concrete action compelled them to launch the protest.
Addressing the gathering, MLA Harshita Baghel said the future of students in the region could not be compromised. She urged the government to approve a separate college building for Thelkadih and begin construction at the earliest.

During the agitation, police and administrative officials reached the protest site and held discussions with the demonstrators. The road blockade was withdrawn after officials assured the protesters that the demand would be taken up with the government and that positive steps would be initiated.
The protest also received support from the District Congress Committee and the Block Congress Committee.
Senior Congress leaders Dhanesh Patila and Nawaz Khan, along with Congress workers, students and local residents, participated in the demonstration.
The protesters warned that if approval for a separate college building and the commencement of construction work are not initiated soon, the agitation would be intensified.
