The positive impact of the TB-Free India Campaign, being implemented under the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme, is now clearly visible across Rajnandgaon district. Continuous efforts combined with the use of modern medical technologies have led to a significant decline in tuberculosis cases, while improvements in healthcare services at the district hospital have strengthened patients’ confidence in the public health system.
Significant Decline in TB Cases
Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr. Netaram Navratan informed that in 2015, a total of 2,082 TB patients were recorded in the district. By 2025, this number had reduced to 1,091 cases — nearly a 50 percent decline, reflecting sustained efforts by the health department.
Expanded Testing Through Modern Technology
Health authorities have significantly increased TB screening across the district. Advanced diagnostic machines such as Truenat, CBNAAT, and handheld X-ray devices are now being used to conduct examinations from urban wards to remote villages.

Through active outreach, potential patients and high-risk groups are being screened at the community level. The district hospital has also ensured the availability of specialist doctors, enabling timely consultation and treatment for patients.
Importantly, all TB-related tests and treatments are being provided completely free of cost.
District Moving Towards TB-Free Panchayats
The TB-Free Panchayat campaign is also being implemented effectively across the district. Under this initiative, 60 gram panchayats were declared TB-free in 2023, followed by 170 in 2024 and 238 gram panchayats in 2025.
The administration has set an ambitious target to declare all gram panchayats in the district TB-free by 2026, with rapid progress underway toward achieving this goal.
Improved Facilities at District Hospital
Alongside disease control measures, several important improvements have been introduced at the district hospital to enhance patient services.
Patients are now receiving quality meals prepared according to a prescribed nutritional menu. Following earlier complaints regarding food quality, the contract with the previous agency was terminated and responsibility was assigned to a new service provider.
Regular maintenance of fans, coolers, lights, and electronic equipment installed in OPD and other hospital sections is being ensured to maintain smooth functioning.
Additionally, to avoid inconvenience during the maternity leave of the dental surgeon, an alternative dental specialist has been arranged to continue uninterrupted services for patients.
