Following two days of continuous rainfall and the resulting waterlogging situation in the residential area of Chikhli Deendayal Nagar, Mayor Madhusudan Yadav and Municipal Commissioner G.R. Markam conducted a joint inspection of the area on Wednesday to assess arrangements for water drainage.
The Mayor, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation President Topendra Singh Paras Verma, Water Department in-charge member and Ward Councillor Sunil Sahu, along with the technical and health department teams, inspected the drain behind Chikhli Tanala Restaurant.
During the inspection, it was observed that the water from the drain behind Chikhli Tanala Restaurant was flowing towards the residential area due to the absence of a further drainage channel, creating a situation of water accumulation in the settlement. Mayor Madhusudan Yadav conducted an on-site assessment and walked through the area to identify a suitable location for the construction of a drain.

He directed In-charge Assistant Engineer Sushma Sahu and Sub-Engineer Ayushi Singh to conduct demarcation for ensuring further water discharge and initiate the technical process for drain construction. He also instructed In-charge Health Officer Rajesh Mishra to dig a temporary drain for water discharge and undertake necessary cleaning work.
Commissioner G.R. Markam said that continuous rainfall often leads to waterlogging in low-lying settlements. He directed the concerned officials to conduct site inspections, ensure proper cleaning of drains and drainage channels in the area, make suitable arrangements for the discharge of accumulated water and remove obstructions affecting water flow.
