Rajnandgaon Municipal Corporation has intensified measures to improve civic facilities, including stray cattle control, sanitation, drainage, road repairs, fogging, tree pruning and market cleanliness.

Rajnandgaon Municipal Corporation has intensified civic action ahead of the monsoon and upcoming Ganesh festival, focusing on road repairs, drain cleaning, streetlight restoration, encroachment removal and drinking water supply. Special monitoring is also underway in waterlogging-prone areas, while measures are being taken to improve sanitation and control stray cattle.

Rajnandgaon Mayor Madhusudan Yadav conducted a field inspection in Ward No. 23, reviewing water supply, sanitation, drainage and ongoing development works in Lalbagh, Mahendra Nagar and Prabhat Nagar. He directed officials to maintain construction quality, improve cleanliness and address waterlogging issues on priority.

Rajnandgaon Mayor Madhusudan Yadav and Municipal Commissioner G.R. Markam conducted a joint inspection of Chikhli Deendayal Nagar following waterlogging caused by continuous rainfall and directed officials to take immediate measures for drainage, cleaning and removal of obstructions.

Heavy rainfall has caused waterlogging at Rajnandgaon District Hospital, disrupting X-ray services and affecting patients. Congress leader Rishi Shastri has blamed inadequate drainage and alleged irregular urban development, calling for stricter action against officials and colonisers.

Leader of Opposition Santosh Pille has alleged that inadequate pre-monsoon preparations by the Rajnandgaon Municipal Corporation led to widespread waterlogging after two days of heavy rainfall. He claimed that repeated requests for drain cleaning and road repairs were ignored, affecting several wards across the city.

Ahead of Diwali, Mayor Madhusudan Yadav inspected Rajnandgaon’s Station Para area, reviewing sanitation and underbridge construction work. He instructed officials to resolve waterlogging issues, expedite the underbridge project, and ensure regular waste collection and segregation. Responding to residents’ requests, he also directed preparations for road and drainage improvements in Shikshak Nagar. The initiative aligns with Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai’s emphasis on city-wide cleanliness and public health safety.
