Measures Focus on Stray Cattle Management, Cleanliness, Drainage, Road Repairs and Public Convenience

The Rajnandgaon Municipal Corporation is undertaking continuous measures to improve civic facilities, prevent accidents caused by stray cattle, strengthen sanitation arrangements and improve drainage and road conditions during the rainy season.
Various municipal teams are working regularly across different parts of the city to address civic concerns and improve public convenience.
Drive Against Stray Cattle Intensified
Cattle being left unattended by their owners often results in animals roaming around city intersections and major roads, creating risks for commuters.
The Municipal Corporation’s cattle-catching teams are continuously rounding up such animals and shifting them to the Kanjihouse facilities at Revadih and Kanharpuri. Cattle owners are also being advised to keep their animals tied and not release them in public places.
To prevent road accidents, municipal teams are carrying out cattle-removal drives not only during the day but also at night. To improve the visibility of cattle after dark, radium strips are being placed around their necks and radium tape is being attached to their horns.
The highway patrolling team is also removing cattle from the National Highway and undertaking the installation of radium strips.
The recent death of 11 cattle after they were hit by an unidentified vehicle near Revadih Chowk on the National Highway has been taken seriously. The Collector subsequently wrote to the NHAI, directing continuous highway patrolling and removal of cattle from the highway.
In accordance with the directions, NHAI and the Traffic Department are monitoring the highway and taking measures to remove cattle and install radium strips.
The Municipal Corporation has also intensified its campaign. Cattle have been caught and shifted to the Kanjihouse, while radium strips have been installed around the necks and radium tape on the horns of 190 cattle.
To develop a permanent system for proper cattle management, the Municipal Corporation is also contacting various organisations for the operation of a Gau Dham in the city.
Fogging and Waterlogging Management
Continuous rainfall in the city has currently affected fogging operations in the wards. Once the rain stops, fogging will be carried out in designated areas to control mosquitoes.
The Municipal Corporation is also ensuring proper drainage of waterlogged locations in different wards, followed by cleaning operations.
Citizens have been urged to prevent water from accumulating inside and around their homes to reduce mosquito breeding and protect against seasonal diseases.
The civic body has specifically advised residents to regularly empty water accumulated in coolers, flowerpots, old tyres, containers and other such receptacles.

Road Repairs and Tree Pruning
To make city roads safer and easier for commuters, teams from the Municipal Corporation and Public Works Department are carrying out patchwork and repairs on damaged stretches.
Road potholes created due to rainfall are being repaired on a priority basis.
On a section of Pendri Main Road, the Municipal Corporation had earlier undertaken cement-concreting work using an approved allocation of ₹7 lakh. The remaining portion of the road will also be concreted in phases according to the funds sanctioned for the ward.
At present, necessary repairs are being carried out through patchwork on pothole-ridden sections.
The Municipal Corporation is also undertaking tree pruning in view of the risk of accidents caused by trees and branches along roads during rainfall. Unnecessary branches of plants and trees will also be trimmed as part of the ongoing work.
Market Cleanliness and Public Facilities
Regular cleaning is being carried out across the city’s market areas. A night sanitation team also cleans the entire market area during nighttime hours.
Pavement vendors and shopkeepers are being repeatedly advised to keep waste in designated dustbins and dispose of it only through garbage collection vehicles.
For the convenience of citizens visiting the market, a fully equipped public toilet has also been constructed. An Expression of Interest has been invited under the departmental process for its operation.
The facility is expected to provide better convenience to citizens and traders visiting the market area.
The Municipal Corporation said work is continuing at various levels to improve the city’s cleanliness, traffic safety and civic facilities.
The civic body has appealed to residents not to leave cattle unattended in public places, dispose of waste only at designated locations and ensure that water does not accumulate in and around their homes.
