Police Vigilance, Advance Planning and Continuous Monitoring Ensure Smooth Management of Festival Attended by More Than 50,000 Devotees

The renowned and decades-old traditional Govinda Utsav and Krishna Janmashtami celebrations in Dongargarh concluded peacefully this year amid religious enthusiasm and a harmonious atmosphere. Despite the presence of more than 50,000 devotees, no major untoward incident, stampede or serious law-and-order situation was reported during the celebrations.
Advance Security Planning Proves Effective
Under the direction of Rajnandgaon Superintendent of Police Ankita Sharma (IPS), the police began comprehensive preparations for security, traffic management and crowd control nearly a week before the event.
Inspector General of Police Ajay Yadav also held a meeting with the concerned school management and organisers ahead of the Govinda Utsav. During the meeting, necessary directions were issued and coordination regarding arrangements was strengthened.
The organisers, DJs and sound-system operators were also given necessary instructions to ensure the smooth and peaceful conduct of the celebrations.
More Than 300 Police Personnel Deployed
More than 300 police officers and personnel were deployed during the event. Continuous surveillance was maintained along the procession route, at major intersections and around key programme venues.
The police closely monitored the movement of devotees, managed the crowds and ensured that traffic arrangements remained smooth throughout the celebrations.
The coordinated deployment and continuous field-level vigilance helped prevent any major disruption despite the large gathering.
Dongargarh’s Traditional Festival Draws Thousands
Dongargarh’s Govinda Utsav has a distinctive identity across Chhattisgarh. The festival is rooted in a tradition that has continued for years and attracts a large number of devotees from surrounding areas.
Managing law and order amid such a massive gathering remains a major challenge for the police and administration. The successful completion of this year’s celebrations without any major incident reflected the importance of advance planning, coordination and field-level preparedness.
SP Congratulates Police Team
Following the peaceful and zero-incident completion of the challenging event, Superintendent of Police Ankita Sharma congratulated the police team for its efforts.
The success of the celebrations was attributed to the police’s advance preparations, continuous monitoring by senior officers, strong field presence and cooperation from citizens.
The coordinated efforts ensured that devotees could participate in the traditional Govinda Utsav and Krishna Janmashtami celebrations in a peaceful and orderly environment.
