A joint team comprising the Rajnandgaon Municipal Corporation, food safety officials and police inspected biryani centres and chicken outlets in the Nandai area as part of an ongoing drive to check unauthorised meat sales and compliance with food safety regulations. During the inspection on Tuesday evening, the team seized three LPG cylinders after finding domestic cylinders being used for commercial purposes at three establishments.
The inspection drive covered business licences, food safety permissions, hygiene standards and the use of LPG cylinders. Food samples were also collected from selected outlets for examination by the Food and Drug Administration Department.
Three Domestic LPG Cylinders Seized
During the inspection, the joint team raided Dhimar Chicken Centre, K.G.N. Chicken Centre and Lucky Chicken Centre. One domestic LPG cylinder was seized from each establishment after officials found them being used for commercial purposes, taking the total seizure to three cylinders.
The team also inspected Ansari Chicken and Al Zamzam Biryani Centre, along with other establishments in the Nandai area.

Food safety officials collected samples of chicken biryani and other food items for testing. Documents relating to licences and permissions were also checked.
The Municipal Corporation and the administration stated that inspections would continue to verify food licences, the legality of meat sales, food quality, cleanliness and safety arrangements. Action is being taken against establishments found operating without the required food licences or engaging in unauthorised meat sales.
Mayor Inspects Nandai Meat Market
Earlier in the morning, Mayor Madhusudan Yadav visited Nandai ward along with Municipal Corporation Commissioner G.R. Markam and other officials to review sanitation arrangements ahead of the Diwali festival.
During the visit, residents raised concerns that meat waste from the local meat market was being carried by birds, including kites and vultures, and animals to areas near residential houses, creating unhygienic conditions.
Taking note of the complaint, the Mayor inspected the meat market and directed officials to improve its management and ensure proper cleanliness. He also instructed them to make arrangements for the safe disposal of meat waste.
Incinerator System Proposed for Meat Waste Disposal
The Mayor directed officials to prioritise the installation of an incinerator system at the meat market so that meat waste could be disposed of at the site itself.

Deepak Khande, the officer in charge of the Swachh Bharat Mission and an executive engineer, said the tender process for installing the incinerator system was in its final stage.
According to Khande, the proposed system would have the capacity to burn approximately 100 kilograms of meat waste per hour.
The Mayor stressed that the installation should be prioritised to address residents’ complaints about waste and unhygienic conditions. He also instructed officials to improve other essential facilities at the meat market and maintain proper sanitation.
Inspection Drive to Continue
The Municipal Corporation, food safety authorities and police are continuing joint inspections of hotels, shops and roadside carts involved in meat and food sales. The drive focuses on verifying licences and food safety permissions, checking the use of LPG cylinders, examining food samples and ensuring cleanliness.
The inspections are intended to enforce applicable regulations and address sanitation concerns in the Nandai area, particularly ahead of the Diwali festival.
