Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee spokesperson Kamaljeet Singh Pintu has strongly criticised the BJP’s ‘Save Democracy, Remove Mobocracy’ campaign, describing the party’s stand as an insult to the country’s democratic values and millions of voters.
In a statement, Pintu alleged that the BJP’s campaign was not aimed at protecting democracy but at covering up its failures and providing unwarranted protection to the Election Commission.
He said the BJP’s tendency to dismiss aware citizens and people raising democratic concerns as a “mob” reflected what he described as the party’s arrogance. The BJP, he said, should not forget that it had reached power through the votes of the same people it was now criticising.
“The people whose votes have brought the BJP to power today also have the democratic right to remove it from power in the future,” Pintu said.
Questions Raised Over Alleged Deletion of 130 Million Voters’ Names
Raising concerns over alleged irregularities in electoral rolls, Pintu questioned the BJP over reports that the names of 130 million people had been removed from voter lists in the name of electoral roll revision across the country.
Questioning the BJP’s position, he asked: if the names of 130 million voters were fake or incorrect, how could the government elected with votes cast under the same electoral system claim unquestionable legitimacy?

Pintu demanded that if electoral rolls and the election process were so controversial that such a large number of names had to be removed, the entire electoral process should be examined.
“The demands of political morality require that the election process be cancelled with immediate effect and that the governments concerned, including the Union Government, be dissolved, followed by fresh and impartial elections,” he said.
Congress Vows to Continue Its Fight for Democracy
Concluding his statement, the Congress spokesperson said the BJP’s statements would not persuade people indefinitely. He asserted that the Congress would continue to raise its voice in defence of democracy, standing alongside the public both on the streets and in legislative forums.
