The Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Company Limited has commissioned a newly constructed 33/11 kV power substation at Vicharpur Nawagaon village in Rajnandgaon district under the Chief Minister’s Electricity Infrastructure Development Scheme. The substation was formally energised by Harsh Kumar Meshram, Chief Engineer of the Rajnandgaon region.
With the commissioning of the facility, approximately 4,250 electricity consumers across 31 villages are expected to benefit from improved power supply. The development is considered an important step towards strengthening electricity infrastructure in rural areas.
₹3.28 Crore Project to Strengthen Power Network
The substation has been constructed at a cost of ₹3.28 crore under the Chief Minister’s Electricity Infrastructure Development Scheme. A new power transformer with a capacity of 3.15 MVA has been installed at the facility.
To further strengthen the electricity supply network, the project also included the construction of 19 kilometres of 33 kV power lines and 3 kilometres of 11 kV lines.
The new substation and expanded distribution network are expected to improve the area’s electricity distribution capacity and strengthen the reliability of power supply.
Relief Expected from Low Voltage and Overloading Issues
The commissioning of the substation will facilitate better management of electricity distribution in the region. Strengthening the local network is expected to help reduce low-voltage and overloading problems.
Rural and agricultural areas, in particular, are expected to benefit from improvements in the quality and reliability of electricity supply. Domestic consumers, farmers and other electricity users will also benefit from the upgraded infrastructure.

Improved Supply During Agricultural Season
Chief Engineer Harsh Kumar Meshram said that under the guidance of Power Companies Chairman Subodh Kumar Singh and Managing Director (Distribution) Bhim Singh Kanwar, new substations are being constructed according to district-level demand, while the load-bearing capacity of existing substations is also being enhanced.
He said these measures would help reduce overloading, low voltage and frequent power tripping, particularly during periods of high electricity demand.
Electricity consumption increases during the agricultural and paddy seasons due to the operation of irrigation pumps. The energisation of the new substation is expected to help provide farmers with a more reliable electricity supply at improved voltage levels, supporting smoother irrigation operations.
Rural and domestic consumers are also expected to benefit from better power supply quality.
Meshram said the new 33/11 kV substation at Vicharpur Nawagaon reflects the company’s commitment to strengthening electricity infrastructure according to local requirements. Besides improving the power distribution system across 31 villages, the project is expected to support the region’s social and economic development.
Power Department Officials Attend Inauguration
Superintending Engineer of Rajnandgaon Circle Shankeshwar Kanwar, Executive Engineers Mukesh Kumar Sahu and Nurendra Kumar Sahu, Assistant Engineers Sushil Kodape, S.P. Thakur and Kuber Singh Markam, along with other officials and employees of the Electricity Department, were present on the occasion.
