Dr. Raman Singh Inaugurates ₹6.42 Crore Hospital Upgradation Project and Lays Foundation Stone for New CMHO Office Building

Chhattisgarh Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh today inaugurated the plinth upgradation and elevation expansion work of Rajnandgaon District Hospital and laid the foundation stone for the new Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) office building. The projects have been undertaken at a total cost of ₹6.42 crore.
Major Boost to Healthcare Infrastructure
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Raman Singh said that the district hospital building’s elevation expansion work has been completed at a cost of ₹3.56 crore, while the new CMHO office building will be constructed at a cost of ₹2.86 crore.
He stated that Rajnandgaon has developed a strong healthcare infrastructure and that patients availing services at the District Hospital and Government Medical College have expressed positive feedback regarding healthcare facilities. He credited the district administration for its proactive and vigilant efforts in strengthening health services.

Focus on Reducing Maternal and Infant Mortality
Dr. Singh highlighted that reducing infant mortality and maternal mortality remains one of the biggest challenges in the healthcare sector. He noted that Rajnandgaon district has been actively working toward this goal and has achieved encouraging results.
He further stated that the district’s maternal mortality rate is lower than the state average, which is a positive indicator. Emphasizing continuous improvement, he said that additional healthcare facilities would be introduced at the district hospital in the coming years.
“Rajnandgaon District Hospital should remain at the forefront of providing the best healthcare services in Chhattisgarh,” he remarked.
Additional Facilities to Be Introduced
The Assembly Speaker announced several measures to further strengthen healthcare services at the hospital. These include:
- Repair and maintenance of the hospital roof.
- Renovation and improvement of lift facilities.
- Appointment of two gynecology specialists through District Mineral Foundation (DMF) funds.
- Procurement of a dental X-ray machine.
- Installation of a separator machine.
He also assured that efforts would be made through the state budget to address other infrastructural and operational requirements of the hospital.
MP Santosh Pandey Praises Hospital Transformation
Member of Parliament Shri Santosh Pandey said that the district hospital is now witnessing a new phase of development and has been transformed with upgraded facilities for the benefit of residents.
He appreciated the dedication of doctors and nurses who continue to provide healthcare services with commitment and efficiency. He noted that there was a long-standing need for elevation expansion and upgradation of the hospital, which has now been fulfilled.
He added that healthcare facilities at the district hospital are being continuously enhanced to meet growing public needs.

Administration Emphasizes Teamwork and Accountability
Collector Shri Jitendra Yadav stated that the district hospital team has a responsibility to work diligently and in the right direction to achieve desired healthcare outcomes.
Chief Executive Officer of the District Panchayat, Ms. Suruchi Singh, presented the hospital’s progress report. She informed the gathering that high-risk pregnancies are being continuously monitored across the district, contributing significantly to the reduction in maternal mortality.
