The National Child Health Programme (RBSK) and the Mukhyamantri Chiranjeevi Scheme have brought the joy of hearing back into the life of a young child from Rajnandgaon.
Mayank lost his hearing ability at around one-and-a-half years of age, creating an extremely difficult situation for his family. However, timely intervention by the Health Department and effective coordination under government health schemes provided the child with a new hope for treatment.
After assessing Mayank’s condition, the RBSK team completed the necessary documentation and coordinated with his family to refer him without delay to AIIMS, one of the country’s reputed medical institutions, for treatment.
Under the supervision of specialist doctors, Mayank successfully underwent a cochlear implant operation.
A Moment That Brought Tears of Joy
Following the surgery, an emotional moment arrived for Mayank’s parents, who had been waiting for the opportunity for their child to hear again.
When the cochlear implant device was switched on for the first time, Mayank heard his parents’ voices.
Seeing their child respond to sound for the first time brought tears of happiness to his parents’ eyes.

The Health Department continues to monitor Mayank’s health following the operation.
After being discharged from the hospital, he was sent to the CRC (Regional Rehabilitation Centre) for further treatment and rehabilitation.
Under the supervision of specialists, Mayank is receiving speech and hearing therapy to help him understand sounds better and learn to speak like other children.
