The Health Department in Rajnandgaon district is undertaking measures aimed at strengthening preventive healthcare and ensuring timely medical services for the public. As part of these efforts, free HPV vaccination is being provided to eligible girls to help prevent cervical cancer, while preparations are also underway to ensure adequate health facilities during the upcoming Kwar Navratri fair at Maa Bamleshwari Temple in Dongargarh.
8,315 Girls Vaccinated Under HPV Drive
The district has set a target of 10,577 eligible girls for HPV vaccination. Of these, 8,315 girls have been vaccinated so far, while 2,262 eligible girls are yet to receive the vaccine.
The HPV (Human Papillomavirus) vaccine is being provided free of cost by the Health Department. HPV infection can be a major cause of cervical cancer and certain other serious diseases. Vaccination at the recommended age during adolescence can help reduce the future risk of cancers caused by HPV infection.
The Health Department has appealed to parents of girls aged 14 to 15 years to ensure that their daughters receive HPV vaccination for protection against cervical cancer.

The vaccine is available free of cost at Primary Health Centres, Community Health Centres and the District Hospital in the district.
