The Prime Minister Road Accident Victim Hospitalisation and Assured Treatment Scheme (PM-Rahat) is being effectively implemented in Rajnandgaon district to ensure timely and quality medical treatment for people injured in road accidents.
Under the scheme, road accident victims are provided cashless treatment of up to ₹1.50 lakh per person for a maximum period of seven days following the accident. The initiative is aimed at ensuring that injured persons receive immediate medical attention without financial concerns delaying treatment.
26 Road Accident Victims Have Received Treatment
Collector Jitendra Yadav has directed the concerned officials to ensure effective implementation of the scheme and facilitate immediate access to its benefits for people injured in road accidents.
Under the Collector’s guidance, 26 road accident victims in the district have so far been registered and provided treatment under the PM-Rahat scheme.
Of these, 20 patients were treated at the Bharat Ratna Late Atal Bihari Vajpayee Memorial Government Medical College, Rajnandgaon, while six patients received treatment at private nursing homes in Rajnandgaon. The prescribed treatment amounts have also been paid.
Immediate Treatment During the Golden Hour
Under the PM-Rahat scheme, road accident victims are admitted to hospitals and provided free treatment without delay during the golden hour, the critical period immediately following an accident.
The initial period after an accident is considered crucial for protecting the life of an injured person. Keeping this in view, arrangements have been made to ensure that victims receive timely and quality medical care.
The scheme is intended to help ensure that financial concerns do not prevent accident victims from receiving immediate treatment. Timely medical intervention can help save the lives of people who suffer serious injuries in road accidents.
Facility Available at 72 Hospitals
According to the Chief Medical and Health Officer, the scheme is being implemented across a network of 34 government hospitals and 38 private hospitals in the district.
Officials in charge and operators of these hospitals have already been provided with the necessary training and information regarding the provisions and procedures of the PM-Rahat scheme.
The district administration and Health Department are working to ensure that eligible road accident victims receive the benefits of the scheme promptly and access quality medical treatment when it is most critical.
