In a major crackdown on illegal online betting during the Indian Premier League (IPL), Rajnandgaon Police dismantled a sophisticated betting network being operated from a farmhouse in Khairjhiti village. The action exposed what officials described as a fully digital gambling setup running high-stakes wagers on live cricket matches.

The operation was launched under the direction of Superintendent of Police अंकिता शर्मा, with guidance from Additional Superintendent of Police कीर्तन राठौर.

Joint Police Operation at Farmhouse

A joint team comprising Cyber Cell personnel along with officers from Ghumka, Basantpur, and Lalbag police stations conducted a raid at an agricultural farmhouse in Khairjhiti following intelligence inputs about ongoing IPL betting activities.

During the raid, police arrested seven accused persons at the spot, while two other suspects remain absconding.

Digital Betting System Uncovered

Investigation revealed that the accused were running a high-tech betting operation using mobile phones, laptops, and specialized software. Bets were allegedly placed on every ball and over of IPL matches, indicating an organized and professional betting setup.

Police officials said the entire network was being operated through a platform known as the “Sai App,” while financial records and transactions were maintained in coded language to evade law enforcement detection.

The farmhouse had reportedly been converted into a fully functional digital betting hub.

Seizure Worth Over ₹20 Lakh

During the operation, police seized:

  • 1 Laptop
  • 9 Mobile Phones
  • Betting account registers and written records
  • One Honda City car
  • Another four-wheeler vehicle
  • Cash amount of ₹900
  • Betting records reflecting transactions worth ₹7,68,000

The total value of seized property and betting materials has been estimated at ₹20,23,950.

Cases Registered Under Multiple Laws

Police registered offences under:

  • Sections 6, 7, and 8 of the Chhattisgarh Gambling Prohibition Act, 2022
  • Section 318(4) and Section 111 (Organized Crime) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS)
  • Section 66(D) of the Information Technology Act

All arrested accused have been sent to judicial remand.

Further Investigation Underway

Police officials confirmed that additional individuals connected to the betting racket have already been identified, and efforts are underway to arrest the remaining accused. Authorities indicated that further revelations about the wider betting network are expected soon.
