Padma Shri Awardee Phoolbasan Bai Rescued Safely; Traffic Team’s Vigilance Prevents Major Incident

Displaying exceptional alertness, prompt response, and firm determination, Rajnandgaon Police successfully prevented a serious criminal incident in time, ensuring the safety of Padma Shri awardee social worker Phoolbasan Bai.
Incident Reported on Gathula Road
According to information received from the police, the incident occurred on May 05, 2026, at around 11:00 AM in the Gathula Road area. Mrs. Phoolbasan Bai was allegedly persuaded by an acquaintance to sit inside a vehicle on the pretext of taking a selfie along with another woman.
Subsequently, two men and another woman allegedly attempted to forcibly take her away in the vehicle, indicating a possible kidnapping attempt.
Traffic Police Intervention Proves Crucial
At the same time, a traffic inspection team deployed on duty at Gathula Road stopped the vehicle for not wearing seat belts. During the inspection, the condition of the woman seated in the rear of the vehicle appeared suspicious to the officers.
Upon questioning, the occupants of the vehicle attempted to mislead the police by claiming that the woman was suffering from an epileptic seizure.
Presence of Mind Leads to Rescue
However, Traffic Inspector Navratna Kashyap and his team remained vigilant and grew suspicious of the inconsistent responses. All occupants were asked to step out of the vehicle for detailed verification.
During inquiry, the woman was identified as Mrs. Phoolbasan Bai, following which she was immediately rescued and secured safely by the police team.
Accused Taken Into Custody
All four accused involved in the incident were taken into custody and brought to the nearest police station. Legal proceedings are underway, with an FIR being registered and further investigation continuing.
