Major Infrastructure Push Announced
Public Works Department sanctions construction of 15 four-lane roads covering 90.5 km; Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao says expansion will strengthen safe mobility and economic progress

To provide stronger and wider road infrastructure for citizens, the Public Works Department has sanctioned ₹708 crore 21 lakh 35 thousand for the construction of 15 four-lane roads. The amount was approved during the recently concluded financial year 2025-26, under which a total of 90.5 km of four-lane roads will be developed across various districts.
The projects are expected to ensure smoother traffic flow on major routes, reduce congestion, and shorten travel time. Along with safer transportation, the expansion of four-lane roads will strengthen economic growth by supporting agriculture, trade, education, and healthcare services.

Four-Lane Projects in Durg District
The Public Works Department has approved the following projects in Durg district:
- ₹3 crore 41 lakh for a 0.5 km four-lane road from Durg-Dhamdha-Bemetara under bridge to Agrasen Chowk.
- ₹20 crore 64 lakh for a 7 km four-lane road from Smriti Nagar Petrol Pump to IIT Jevra Sirsa.
- ₹28 crore 58 lakh for a 4.70 km four-lane route from Mini Mata Chowk to Maharaja Chowk–Thagda Dam.
- ₹23 crore 97 lakh for a 1.80 km four-lane road from Maharaja Chowk to Borsi Chowk.
Expansion Works in Raigarh District
In Raigarh district, the department has sanctioned:
- ₹41 crore 49 lakh for four-lane widening of the 2.50 km stretch from Dhimarapur Chowk to Kotra Thana Chowk.
- ₹55 crore 29 lakh for widening the Raigarh-Kotra-Nandeli State Highway from km 1 to km 5.
- ₹81 crore 48 lakh for electrification along with four-lane widening of the Raigarh-Loing-Mahapalli main district road from km 1 to km 5.
- ₹152 crore 17 lakh for construction of a 6 km Tamnar four-lane bypass.
Projects Approved in Raipur, Ambikapur and Bilaspur
Key approvals in other districts include:
- ₹17 crore 9 lakh for upgrading a 2.8 km stretch of NH-30 at Abhanpur in Raipur district into a four-lane road.
- ₹34 crore 20 lakh for construction of a 3.50 km four-lane road from the new fairground to Laxman Jhula in Rajim.
- ₹61 crore 34 lakh for four-lane widening of the 5 km stretch from Gandhi Chowk to Railway Station in Ambikapur.
- ₹82 crore 80 lakh 26 thousand for the 13.40 km Koni-Mopka four-lane bypass in Bilaspur.
- ₹14 crore 71 lakh for four-lane widening and strengthening of the 21 km Kota-Lormi-Pandariya road.
Road Development Works in Jashpur and Kabirdham
In Jashpur district, ₹36 crore 85 lakh has been approved for upgrading and strengthening three roads totaling 7.30 km:
- 2 km from Indira Chowk to Jashpur Road at Pathalgaon.
- 1.50 km from Indira Chowk to Ambikapur Road.
- 3.80 km from Indira Chowk to Raigarh Road.
Additionally, ₹54 crore 21 lakh has been sanctioned in Kabirdham district for upgrading NH-30 from km 50 to km 57 into a four-lane road along with divider construction.
Government’s Vision for Safe Mobility and Economic Growth
“Ensuring better and safer transportation across the state is among our top priorities. Expansion of four-lane roads is not limited to traffic convenience but also lays a strong foundation for economic progress. Large-scale investment in infrastructure development by the Public Works Department is strengthening connectivity and accelerating balanced development between rural and urban areas,” said Deputy Chief Minister and Public Works Minister Arun Sao.
