A one-day district-level workshop was conducted in Rajnandgaon to enhance the effective implementation of the PM Road Accident Victim Hospitalization and Assured Treatment Scheme, a flagship initiative of the Government of India aimed at providing immediate medical assistance to road accident victims.

The workshop was held at the office of the Chief Medical and Health Officer, where officials and healthcare stakeholders were briefed on the operational framework of the scheme. The initiative ensures that victims of road accidents receive timely and cashless treatment during the critical “golden hour” — the crucial period immediately following an accident.

Under the scheme, injured individuals can avail cashless treatment of up to ₹1.5 lakh per person for a maximum duration of seven days at all registered government and private hospitals in the district. The primary objective is to reduce fatalities by ensuring prompt and quality medical intervention.

During the session, participants were informed that delays in treatment during the initial hours after an accident often lead to preventable deaths. The scheme aims to address this gap by enabling hospitals to admit and treat patients without procedural delays or financial barriers.

A key highlight of the workshop was the live training conducted on digital platforms such as the TMS 2.0 Portal and the eDAR Portal, which are integral to the implementation and monitoring of the scheme. Officials demonstrated the use of these systems through projector-based sessions to ensure seamless adoption by healthcare institutions.

The workshop saw participation from representatives of 34 government hospitals and 37 private hospitals across the district, including hospital in-charges, administrators, and medical officers. Officials were directed to strictly adhere to government guidelines and ensure immediate treatment to accident victims without delay.

Key resource persons included Dr. BL Tulavi, who also serves as the nodal officer for Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, along with District Manager Arun Soni and District Project Coordinator Aishwarya Sahu. They provided detailed insights into the scheme’s provisions, implementation protocols, and reporting mechanisms.

Medical representatives from major healthcare institutions such as Government Medical College Pendri, District Hospital Basantpur, and Community Health Centres in Dongargaon, Chhuriya, Dongargarh, Ghumka, and Somni attended the session. Additionally, officials from primary health centres, RMAs, and private hospital operators were also present.

Authorities emphasized that the success of the scheme depends on timely coordination between hospitals, administrative bodies, and digital platforms, ensuring that accident victims receive immediate, life-saving care without financial burden.
