In a bid to accelerate the implementation of the state government’s electricity bill relief initiative, Bheemsingh Kanwar, Managing Director (Distribution) of Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Company Limited, conducted a surprise inspection of ongoing camps in Rajnandgaon district.
During his visit, Kanwar reviewed a camp organized in Bori village, where he directly interacted with consumers and explained the benefits and eligibility criteria of the Chief Minister Electricity Bill Payment Resolution Scheme (MBBPS). Social worker Neeraj Bajpai was also present during the inspection.
At the camp, a total of 13 beneficiaries belonging to BPL, low-tension domestic, and non-government agricultural categories were registered on the spot. Kanwar instructed officials to identify and enroll more eligible consumers while ensuring that the registration process remains simple, transparent, and accessible.
He further directed authorities to facilitate easy installment options for consumers to clear pending dues, emphasizing that financial relief must be delivered effectively at the grassroots level.
During the inspection, beneficiaries were also awarded certificates under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana and the state’s settlement scheme. Kanwar reiterated that extending the benefits of such welfare initiatives to all eligible consumers remains the department’s top priority.

Under the scheme, inactive consumers in the BPL category are eligible for up to 75% rebate on the principal amount, while domestic and agricultural consumers can avail up to 50% relief. Additionally, a 100% waiver on surcharge is being provided across categories.
Active consumers are also eligible for relief ranging between 50% to 75% on the principal amount, depending on the duration of pending dues, along with a full waiver on surcharge. Non-government domestic and agricultural consumers can avail an additional 10% discount on lump-sum payments, 5% on payment in three installments, and complete surcharge waiver on payments made in up to six installments.
Senior officials including Shirish Selat, Shankeshwar Kanwar, Kaushlendra Pandey, Kuber Singh Markam, and Monika Shah Mandavi were present during the inspection, along with local representatives and residents of Bori village.
