Over 45,000 MT of Fertilisers Stocked in Cooperative Societies; 13,700 Quintals of Seeds Distributed to Farmers

The Agriculture Department has assured adequate availability of seeds and fertilisers for farmers in Rajnandgaon district as sowing operations for the Kharif 2026 season continue across the district.
The cultivation of paddy, maize, soybean, pigeon pea (arhar), black gram (urad), green gram (moong) and other Kharif crops is currently underway. Collector Jitendra Yadav directed officials to ensure that farmers do not face any shortage of agricultural inputs and instructed departments to maintain uninterrupted availability of seeds and fertilisers.
Seed Stock Exceeds Target
Against the district’s seed requirement of 14,331 quintals for the Kharif season, a total of 14,686 quintals has been stocked. Of this, 13,700.82 quintals have already been distributed to farmers through cooperative societies and the Agriculture Department.
According to official figures, seed stocking has achieved 102% of the target, while 93% of the available stock has already been distributed.
The district has so far completed Kharif sowing over 112,884.92 hectares, including 111,339 hectares under paddy cultivation through sowing and transplantation.
Over 63,000 MT of Fertilisers Available
To ensure uninterrupted fertiliser supply, the district has fixed procurement targets of 45,650 metric tonnes for the cooperative sector and 23,310 metric tonnes for the private sector during Kharif 2026.
Against these targets, 45,144 metric tonnes of fertilisers have been stocked in cooperative societies, while the private sector has stocked 18,589 metric tonnes.

Overall fertiliser stocking has reached 92% of the district’s target.
80% of Stock Already Distributed
The Agriculture Department reported that farmers have already received the following quantities of fertilisers through cooperative societies and private dealers:

The department stated that 80% of the available fertiliser stock has already been distributed to farmers.
Deputy Director of Agriculture Tikam Singh Thakur appealed to all cooperative societies and private fertiliser dealers to ensure that farmers do not face any inconvenience while procuring fertilisers and that the availability of seeds and fertilisers remains uninterrupted throughout the cropping season.
