Illegal Liquor Sale: Accused Arrested in Rajnandgaon, 8.10 Bulk Litres Seized

Joint action by Sukuldaihan Police Outpost and Cyber Police Station; liquor worth ₹5,080 recovered

As part of an ongoing campaign against the illegal transportation and sale of liquor, a joint team of Sukuldaihan Police Outpost and Cyber Police Station arrested a man in Gram Dhangaon and seized 8.100 bulk litres of liquor valued at approximately ₹5,080.

Police Act on Tip-Off

According to police, on August 25, 2026, information was received from an informer about the illegal sale of liquor in Dhangaon. Acting on the information, a joint team conducted a raid at the location.

During the operation, police recovered country-made and Indian-made foreign liquor from Rikesh Sahu (45), son of Ramratan Sahu, a resident of Dhangaon under Sukuldaihan Police Outpost, Rajnandgaon district.

Country-Made and English Liquor Seized

The seized liquor included 8 quarter bottles of Desi Plain Sawa Shera liquor, totalling 1.440 bulk litres and valued at ₹640.

Police also seized 37 quarter bottles of Jammu Special English liquor, amounting to 6.660 bulk litres and valued at ₹4,440.

The total seizure was 8.100 bulk litres, with an estimated value of ₹5,080.

Case Registered Under Excise Act

Police seized the liquor and arrested the accused. A case was registered against him under Section 34(2) of the Excise Act.

As the offence is non-bailable, the accused was produced before the court on judicial remand. Following the court’s order, he was sent to jail.

Action Taken Under Senior Police Officers' Directions

The action was carried out under the directions of Rajnandgaon Superintendent of Police Ankita Sharma, with guidance from Additional Superintendent of Police Keertan Rathore and City Superintendent of Police Vaishali Jain.

Police said action against the illegal transportation and sale of liquor will continue as part of efforts to curb unlawful activities in the district.
