A Testament to Humanity: Dongargaon Police Perform Last Rites of Unidentified Man with Dignity

In a heartening display of compassion and humanity, the Dongargaon Police in Chhattisgarh’s Rajnandgaon district ensured a dignified last farewell for an unidentified man, earning widespread appreciation across the region.

According to official information, the Dial 112 emergency response team received an alert from Arjuni village about an unidentified man found in a गंभीर medical condition. Responding swiftly, the police shifted him to the Government Medical College Hospital in Rajnandgaon for treatment. Despite medical efforts, the man succumbed to his condition on March 11, 2026.

Following intimation from hospital authorities, the police initiated extensive efforts to identify the deceased and trace his family. Information was circulated across nearby police stations, bordering districts, village kotwar networks, and multiple social media platforms. Records of missing persons were also thoroughly examined. However, no claimant or relative came forward within the stipulated time.

In the absence of any identification, Dongargaon Police proceeded with all legal formalities and arranged for the last rites of the deceased at the Chikhli Mukti Dham in Rajnandgaon, ensuring that he received a respectful and dignified farewell.

The operation was carried out under the supervision of trainee IPS officer Aditya Kumar, who is currently serving as Station House Officer. Head Constable Sandeep Deshmukh and Constable Omkar Kurre also played key roles in the entire process.

This humane gesture by the police has struck a chord with the local community, reinforcing the belief that behind the uniform lies a compassionate heart committed to upholding human dignity in every circumstance.
