In a significant leap toward modernizing passenger services, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw launched the RailOne mobile application, a revolutionary super app designed to serve as a one-stop platform for all railway-related needs. Unveiled on the 40th Foundation Day of the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS) at the India Habitat Centre in New Delhi, the app promises to transform the way millions of passengers interact with Indian Railways.

The RailOne app, now live on both Android Play Store and iOS App Store, integrates a wide array of services, eliminating the need for multiple apps and simplifying the travel experience. As highlighted by Minister Vaishnaw in his post on X, “RailOne All-in-One App by Bharatiya Railways,” this innovative platform is set to enhance convenience, accessibility, and efficiency for rail travelers across India.

Key Features of RailOne App

The RailOne app consolidates essential railway services into a single, user-friendly interface. Passengers can now access:

Ticket Booking: Book reserved, unreserved, and platform tickets (with a 3% discount on unreserved and platform tickets).

Live Train Tracking: Real-time updates on train status and coach positions.

PNR and Train Enquiries: Check PNR status and train schedules effortlessly.

E-Catering: Order meals during the journey.

Grievance Redressal: Access Rail Madad services for quick resolution of complaints.

Additional Services: Book porters, last-mile taxi services, and even check freight-related information.

A standout feature is the single sign-on system, allowing users to log in using existing RailConnect or UTSonMobile credentials, or via biometric authentication and mPIN for seamless access. New users can register with minimal information or use guest login with OTP for quick inquiries. The app also introduces the R-Wallet (Railway e-wallet) for smooth transactions and supports multiple Indian languages to ensure inclusivity.

A Vision for Digital Transformation

Speaking at the launch, Minister Vaishnaw emphasized the app’s role in advancing passenger safety and convenience while urging CRIS to strengthen the digital backbone of Indian Railways with a focus on cybersecurity. He also praised the CRIS team for their technological strides, noting that the RailOne app aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of making Indian Railways a growth engine for India’s Vikas Yatra.

The app, authorized by IRCTC as a commercial partner, complements the existing IRCTC platform, which will continue to handle reserved ticket bookings. Additionally, Vaishnaw highlighted the ongoing development of a modern Passenger Reservation System (PRS), set to launch by December 2025, which will feature advanced functionalities like seat selection, fare calendars, and inclusive options for Divyangjan, students, and patients.

Social Media Buzz

The launch of RailOne has sparked excitement online, with netizens sharing memes and praising its potential to simplify rail travel. Posts on X describe it as a “smarter, faster, and better” solution, with users hailing it as a game-changer for Indian Railways.

A Step Toward Smarter Travel

By consolidating services previously scattered across platforms like IRCTC Rail Connect, UTS, Rail Madad, and the National Train Enquiry System, RailOne reduces the need for multiple apps, saving device storage and offering a more reliable and intuitive experience. As Indian Railways continues to embrace digital innovation, the RailOne app stands as a testament to its commitment to passenger convenience and technological advancement.
