Interstate Accused Arrested in Cyber Fraud Case

In a major breakthrough against cyber fraud, City Kotwali Police arrested an interstate accused involved in online cheating through mule bank accounts. The accused was apprehended during a police raid conducted in Balaghat district.
The operation was carried out under the direction of Superintendent of Police Ankita Sharma, with guidance from Additional Superintendent of Police Kirtan Rathore and supervision of City Superintendent of Police Alexander Kiro as part of an ongoing special anti-cybercrime campaign.
Case Registered Under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita
According to police sources, the case was registered on the complaint report submitted by Inspector Ramendra Singh under Crime No. 381/2025. A case was lodged under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
During investigation, it was revealed that the accused was conducting illegal online financial transactions using fake bank accounts, commonly known as mule accounts, along with fraudulent SIM cards.
Technical Evidence Leads to Arrest
Based on information obtained from previously arrested accused Krishna Sonkar and supported by technical evidence, the police team traced the main accused to Balaghat.
Following a targeted raid, the main accused, Shah Rukh Khan (38), a resident of Prince Colony, Balaghat, was arrested. A mobile phone used in the crime was also seized from his possession.
During interrogation, the accused confessed to his involvement in the offence.
Accused Sent to Judicial Custody
Police produced the accused before the court, after which he was remanded to judicial custody and sent to jail. Further investigation in the case is currently underway to identify additional links and possible accomplices involved in the cyber fraud network.
Police Team Behind the Operation
Inspector Milan Singh, Head Constable Shambhunath Dwivedi, and Constable Lilendra Patel played significant roles in successfully executing the operation and securing the arrest.
Police officials reiterated their commitment to intensifying action against cybercrime and urged citizens to remain cautious while conducting online financial transactions.
