Rajnandgaon Collector Reviews Preparations for New Academic Session, Warns of Action Over Delay in Aadhaar Verification

Collector Mr. Jitendra Yadav chaired a meeting of principals of private schools at the Collectorate conference hall to review preparations for the new academic session. During the meeting, he emphasized that all schools must complete Aadhaar verification of students on a priority basis and warned that strict action would be taken against institutions failing to complete the process within two days.
The Collector reviewed admission-related arrangements in private schools and directed all institutions to ensure compliance with government guidelines regarding academic curricula. He instructed schools affiliated with the CBSE to use NCERT textbooks, while schools following the Chhattisgarh Board curriculum must ensure teaching through SCERT-prescribed books.
Schools Must Not Force Parents to Purchase from Specific Vendors
Mr. Yadav clearly directed school managements not to compel parents to purchase textbooks or uniforms from any particular firm or vendor. He stressed that parents should have the freedom to procure educational materials from sources of their choice.
Highlighting the importance of inclusive education, the Collector stated that under the Right to Free and Compulsory Education Act (RTE), schools have a moral responsibility to support poor and needy children. He urged educational institutions to actively contribute towards improving the lives and future prospects of underprivileged students through quality education.
He also warned that action would be taken against schools that fail to issue Transfer Certificates (TCs) to students and parents in a timely manner.
Focus on IIT, NEET and Other Competitive Examinations
The Collector called upon schools to work in a planned and systematic manner to increase the number of students from the district qualifying for prestigious competitive examinations such as IIT-JEE, NEET, NIT and other national-level entrance tests.
He noted that successful selections inspire other students to pursue academic excellence and strengthen parents’ confidence in the education system.
Student Safety and Holistic Development Prioritized
Mr. Yadav directed schools to constitute coordination committees to prevent any untoward incidents on campus. He emphasized the need to provide students with a safe, hygienic and academically conducive environment.
He further instructed schools to organize awareness camps under the Navya Campaign to educate children about “Good Touch and Bad Touch” and other child safety issues.
“Schools should function as integrated units committed to the overall development of students,” the Collector said while urging institutions to ensure vaccination of children and regular health check-ups through the Chirayu health teams.

Fee Hike Must Follow Government Norms
The Collector also stressed that any increase in school fees must strictly adhere to government norms and regulations. He directed schools to obtain approval for fee revisions from committees constituted at the block and district levels.
He warned that complaints related to fee determination would be investigated by designated committees and appropriate action would be taken wherever irregularities are found.
Strict Compliance with Tobacco-Free Zone Norms
The Collector reminded school authorities that a 100-metre radius around school premises has been declared a tobacco-free zone and instructed them to ensure strict compliance with the regulation.
District Education Officer Mr. Pravas Singh Baghel briefed participants on ongoing efforts to improve educational quality in the district. He also directed private schools to complete all procedures under the Right to Education Act and update seat-related information on the designated portal.
Deputy Collector Mr. Aniket Sahu, Deputy Collector Mr. Vishwas Kumar and principals of various private schools were present during the meeting.
