NSTFDC emerges as a catalyst for tribal entrepreneurship; beneficiaries from Chhattisgarh honoured at 25th Foundation Day event in New Delhi

Union Minister for Tribal Affairs Jual Oram highlighted the transformative role played by the National Scheduled Tribes Finance and Development Corporation (NSTFDC) in empowering Scheduled Tribe communities across the country. He emphasized that the corporation’s vision goes beyond employment generation and aims to promote entrepreneurship by enabling individuals to become job providers rather than job seekers.
Addressing the 25th Foundation Day celebrations of NSTFDC held on April 10, 2026, in New Delhi, the minister described the corporation as a key catalyst for strengthening tribal entrepreneurship and self-reliance.
Focus on Entrepreneurship and Economic Empowerment
The Union Minister stated that NSTFDC’s approach is centred on creating sustainable livelihood opportunities through financial assistance and entrepreneurial development. According to him, the initiative is designed not merely to provide jobs but to nurture independent business owners capable of generating employment within their communities.
He underlined that such initiatives play a vital role in improving socio-economic conditions among tribal populations by encouraging innovation, enterprise development, and financial inclusion.

Chhattisgarh Beneficiaries Honoured
During the programme, Minister Oram welcomed beneficiaries selected from Chhattisgarh, including Kishan Dhruv from village Kuan in Bemetara district, engaged in a grocery business, and Dhanraj Thakur from village Gatapar, who operates a photo studio business.
Representing the Chhattisgarh State Antyavasayi Cooperative Finance and Development Corporation, Executive Officer Praveen Kumar Lata was also present at the event. The minister appreciated their entrepreneurial efforts under the NSTFDC Term Loan Scheme and honoured the beneficiaries with certificates of appreciation and mementos.
Collateral-Free Financial Assistance Expands Reach
Emphasising the people-centric approach of NSTFDC, the minister highlighted that the corporation provides collateral-free financial assistance, ensuring wider accessibility for tribal beneficiaries.
Speaking to the media, he informed that the corporation has distributed more than 1.6 million loans to beneficiaries so far, with total financial disbursement exceeding ₹4,000 crore.
25th Foundation Day Celebrations
The National Scheduled Tribes Finance and Development Corporation, functioning under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India, celebrated its 25th Foundation Day at the World Youth Centre in New Delhi.
The programme was attended by Ministry of Tribal Affairs Secretary Ranjana Chopra, Joint Secretary Anant Prakash Pandey, NSTFDC Chairman and Managing Director T. Romuan Paite, Manager and Central Region Head Vikas Ranjan, former CMDs of the corporation, and representatives of State Channelising Agencies from across the country.
The event highlighted the growing impact of NSTFDC’s initiatives in strengthening entrepreneurship among tribal communities and advancing inclusive economic development.
