District HIV/AIDS Control Committee Reviews Progress of Prevention and Treatment Programmes

A meeting of the District HIV/AIDS Control Committee was held at the Government Women’s Multipurpose Training Centre on Gaurav Path, Rajnandgaon, in the presence of Dr Bhagyashree Verma, Joint Director of the Chhattisgarh State AIDS Control Committee.

The meeting reviewed the progress of various programmes being implemented in the district for HIV/AIDS prevention and control.

Dr Verma stressed the need to increase public awareness about HIV/AIDS and directed officials to ensure that people living with HIV/AIDS are connected with various government welfare schemes.

Officials were also instructed to complete all necessary online entries within the prescribed time limit.

Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr Netram Navratan directed officials to expand HIV testing so that more HIV-positive individuals could be identified at an early stage.

He further instructed officials to ensure that HIV-positive persons are linked to Antiretroviral Therapy (ART) at the earliest. Regular follow-up and monitoring were also emphasised to ensure viral load suppression among patients undergoing treatment.

The meeting was attended by Disha team members Aditya Shukla, Dr Jayanti Verma, Dr Vikas Soni and Angeshwar Kumar, District Nodal Officer Dr Alpana Lunia, District Programme Manager Sandeep Tamrakar, along with ART staff, Suraksha Clinic representatives, ICTC counsellors, ART staff nurses and district managers of NGOs working under the AIDS control programme.
