Demand for Cow Protection Intensifies; ‘Gau Samman Rally’ Held Across Rajnandgaon District

The demand for cow protection gained momentum in Rajnandgaon district as Gau Samman Rallies were organised at all tehsil headquarters under the Gau Samman Ahvaan Campaign. Participants marched to tehsil offices and submitted memorandums addressed to the President, Prime Minister, Governor and Chief Minister seeking recognition of the cow as Rashtramata (National Mother) and implementation of a complete ban on cow slaughter across India.
Gau Samman Rally Organised in Rajnandgaon City
In Sanskardhani Rajnandgaon, the rally commenced from Gayatri Mandir Subhash Dwar. During the procession, pamphlets highlighting the utility and importance of cows were distributed among citizens.

Through posters, banners and placards, participants attempted to raise awareness about the religious, economic and social significance of indigenous cattle in Indian society. The rally passed through Bharat Mata Chowk, Halwai Line, Cinema Line, Manav Mandir Chowk, Jai Stambh Chowk and Mahavir Chowk before reaching the Tehsil Office.
At the tehsil office, a memorandum bearing the names, mobile numbers and signatures of more than 2,000 citizens was submitted to SDM Gautam Patil through authorised officials.
Participation of Social and Religious Organisations
The rally witnessed active participation and cooperation from several social, religious and community organisations including Gayatri Parivar, Yog Vedant Seva Samiti, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh Gau Seva Activities, Panchgavya Doctor Association, Maharshi Vagbhatt Gau Samvardhan and Research Institute, Vishva Hindu Parishad, Bajrang Dal, Akhil Bharatiya Pujari-Purohit Sangh, Brahmin Samaj, Gupta Samaj, Maheshwari Samaj, Jain Samaj, Devangan Samaj, Sahu Samaj and members of other communities.
A large number of social workers, ward councillors, public representatives, dignitaries, cow devotees, cow protectors and citizens joined the padyatra.
Nationwide Observance of Gau Samman Day
Under the Gau Samman Ahvaan Campaign, April 27 was observed as Gau Samman Day across the country. Rallies were reportedly organised at more than 5,000 tehsil headquarters nationwide, where memorandums were submitted seeking national honour for indigenous cattle breeds.
Key demands of the campaign include protection of indigenous cattle, a complete ban on cow slaughter, enactment of a central law for cow protection, establishment of a Union Ministry for Gau Seva, formation of grazing land boards, implementation of fodder security policy, promotion of cow-based agriculture, and encouragement for production and marketing of Panchgavya-based products.
