Action carried out under Collector Jitendra Yadav’s directions as crackdown on illegal mining activities continues in Rajnandgaon district

Acting on the directions of Collector Jitendra Yadav, the District Mineral Department has intensified its drive against the illegal extraction, storage and transportation of minerals across Rajnandgaon district. As part of the ongoing enforcement campaign, the department seized three vehicles involved in the illegal transportation of limestone (stone aggregates).
The Mineral Department conducted surprise inspections across several locations, including Arjuni, Rayatapayali, Bijebhantha, Dongargaon, Khujji, Kumarda, Laxmanbharda, Kirgi, Surgi, Singhola, Tumdibod, Indamara, Somni, and other surrounding areas.
During the inspection, authorities intercepted three vehicles transporting limestone aggregates without valid authorization.
In the first case, a Hyva truck (MH 33 T 5852) owned by Chandan Shekhawat, a resident of Kotgul, Maharashtra, was seized in Kareli village. The vehicle, driven by Bahadur Singh, a resident of Bijraon, Madhya Pradesh, was found transporting limestone aggregates illegally. The vehicle was seized and handed over to Dongargaon Police Station.
In another case, a Mazda truck (CG 08 AN 8053) owned by Govind Devangan of Dongargaon was intercepted in Khursipar village. The vehicle, driven by Umesh Yadav of Bazar Navagaon, was also found transporting limestone aggregates illegally. It was seized and handed over to Dongargaon Police Station.
Similarly, in Farhad village, officials seized a Hyva truck (CG 07 AX 9196) owned by Amar Infra, based in Durg. The vehicle, driven by Abhishek Pandey of Agyawabazar, was allegedly transporting limestone aggregates illegally. Following the seizure, the vehicle was handed over to the Police Lines Police Station, Rajnandgaon.

The department stated that legal proceedings have been initiated in all three cases under the provisions of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act.
Officials further informed that continuous surveillance and field inspections are being carried out across the district to curb the illegal extraction, transportation and storage of minerals.
