Bharregaon Fag Competition Brings Devkumari Sahu and Pratima Chandraakar to Celebrate Tradition and Pray for Regional Prosperity

Rajnandgaon (BTI)- The village of Bharregaon came alive as it hosted a vibrant two-day Fag Singing and Tableau Competition on March 22 and 23, organized under the joint patronage of Shri Jyot Jawara Jas Jhanki Mandali and the residents of Bharregaon. The festive occasion attracted significant attention from local leaders and the community, creating an atmosphere of cultural pride and collective joy.

The grand event saw the gracious presence of Zila Panchayat Member Smt. Devkumari Sahu and Janpad Panchayat President Smt. Pratima Pappu Chandraakar, who participated in the auspicious Aarti ceremony. Addressing the gathering, Smt. Sahu expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the people, acknowledging their support which helped her achieve the position of Zila Panchayat Member. “Events like these foster mutual love, brotherhood, and a deep-rooted cultural connection among villagers,” she remarked. Smt. Sahu further emphasized that such initiatives serve as a vital platform to unite everyone under one cultural umbrella.

Smt. Pratima Pappu Chandraakar also conveyed her best wishes to the community and extended warm greetings for Holi. In her address, she prayed for the prosperity, happiness, and well-being of the people of the region. “This vibrant gathering reflects the cultural richness and spirit of togetherness in Bharregaon,” she added, applauding the organizers and participants for their enthusiastic involvement.

The competition included separate categories for Jhanki (tableau) and Fag singing, with attractive cash prizes. In the tableau category, the first prize is set at ₹5,000, followed by ₹4,000, ₹3,000, ₹2,000, and ₹1,000 for the subsequent positions. Similarly, the singing competition offers ₹4,000 for first place, ₹3,000 for second, ₹2,000 for third, ₹1,500 for fourth, and ₹1,000 for fifth place.

Additionally, special awards were announced for best drummers, Radha-Krishna performers, costumes, and dancers, each receiving ₹300. The first group to perform on stage was also awarded ₹300 as an encouragement for their early participation and contribution to the event’s success.

The event drew a large crowd, including BJP’s former Mandal President Shri Rohit Chandraakar, senior BJP leader Lekhram Nirmalkar, Janpad Member Meghraj Chandraakar, Sarpanch Lakshmi Banjare, Panchayat members, and numerous villagers, all adding to the festive spirit.

The Fag Competition not only highlighted the cultural vibrancy of Bharregaon but also reinforced the importance of community participation and togetherness during festivals. This celebration of tradition and harmony left a lasting impression on everyone present, making it a memorable event in the village calendar.

Surya Sabha Held in Keshotola to Promote PM Surya Ghar Scheme; 5,036 Solar Plants Installed Across Rajnandgaon

A Surya Sabha was organised in Keshotola village of Chhuriya block to promote the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana. Collector Jitendra Yadav explained the registration, vendor selection, loan, subsidy and billing process to villagers. Rajnandgaon district has so far received 10,698 applications, with 5,036 solar plants installed and 3,575 beneficiaries receiving subsidies. During the programme, 200 fruit-bearing saplings, including mango, guava and amla, were also planted under the Awas Vatika initiative.

Rajnandgaon Collector Jitendra Yadav inspected the Tribal Weavers’ Cooperative Society and Primary Health Centre in Buchatola, Chhuriya block, reviewing the livelihood and healthcare facilities available to local residents. He directed officials to ensure cleaning, fans and fencing at the weavers’ centre, where around 40 people were working, and ordered an anti-addiction awareness camp. At the health centre, he directed the posting of an MBBS doctor, repair of roof seepage and conversion of the unused Covid building into a waiting area for patients’ relatives.

Rajnandgaon Collector Jitendra Yadav conducted a comprehensive inspection of Kallubanjari village in Chhuriya block, reviewing the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, Atal Digital Facilitation Centre, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and Anganwadi services. He inspected a 3-kW solar plant installed by beneficiary Khilesh Patel, who received ₹1.08 lakh in subsidy and saw his monthly electricity bill fall from ₹1,500–₹2,000 to zero. The Collector also joined a PMAY housewarming ceremony, reviewed digital applications and directed officials to closely monitor a moderately malnourished child at the Anganwadi Centre.
