Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Rajnandgaon district president Komal Singh Rajput has launched a sharp attack on the Congress over its reported decision concerning the singing of Vande Mataram, accusing the party of placing its internal Working Committee decision above the country’s legal framework.
At the same time, Rajput welcomed the Chhattisgarh Cabinet’s approval of the Chhattisgarh State Artificial Intelligence (AI) Mission, describing the ₹500-crore initiative as a major step towards strengthening technology, skill development, innovation and the digital economy across the state.
“Congress Has Placed CWC Decision Above the Law”
Reacting to the Congress proposal that only the first two stanzas of Vande Mataram should be sung at party programmes, Rajput accused Congress and its leader Rahul Gandhi of having a “double standard” on the Constitution and the rule of law.
He said Rahul Gandhi frequently invokes the Constitution at rallies and public meetings, but alleged that Congress backs away from constitutional principles when it comes to implementing them.
Rajput criticised the Congress Working Committee’s reported decision and described it as an attempt to give a formal resolution to what he called the “insult” of Vande Mataram.
According to Rajput, Congress has decided that only the first two stanzas of Vande Mataram will be sung at its platforms, while he claimed that a law passed by Parliament requires all six stanzas to be sung.
He alleged that the development once again exposes what he termed the “dual character” of Congress and Rahul Gandhi.
“Insult to Vande Mataram is Disrespect to Freedom Fighters”
Rajput said that Vande Mataram represents a sacred expression of devotion to the nation and argued that disrespecting it amounts to disrespecting the thousands of freedom fighters who drew inspiration from the song during India’s freedom struggle.
He further alleged that what Congress had earlier attempted to dismiss as an isolated incident has now taken the form of an organisational policy.
Rajput accused Congress of pursuing “vote-bank politics” at the cost of national sentiment and claimed that the party has placed its political interests above the country’s national pride.
He also alleged that Congress has effectively placed its own party resolution above the Constitution and the law.
Drawing a historical comparison, Rajput referred to the Muslim League’s opposition to Vande Mataram in 1937 and alleged that Congress is displaying a similar approach today.
BJP to Take Issue to the Public
Rajput further accused Rahul Gandhi and Congress of pursuing what he described as “appeasement politics”.
He said that not singing the complete national song, according to his interpretation of the issue, amounts to disregarding the law passed by Parliament.

The BJP district president said the party would take the issue to the public and campaign against the Congress decision.
He added that, following directions from the BJP’s central leadership, party workers would reach out to people and seek to expose what he described as Congress’s “anti-Constitutional position”.
Rajput Welcomes ₹500-Crore Chhattisgarh AI Mission
In another statement, BJP district president Komal Singh Rajput welcomed the approval given by the Chhattisgarh Cabinet, under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, to the Chhattisgarh State Artificial Intelligence Mission.
Rajput described the initiative as a forward-looking decision that could accelerate good governance, technological development, skill enhancement and the digital economy in the state.
He expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai for approving the mission and said the initiative would help translate Chhattisgarh’s digital roadmap into concrete action.
According to Rajput, the AI Mission will be implemented over a period of five years with an estimated expenditure of ₹500 crore.
He said the initiative is not intended to remain limited to major cities but will focus on extending AI capabilities to remote districts, smaller cities and towns so that the benefits of emerging technology reach people at the grassroots level.
100 AI Data Labs and Five Centres of Excellence
Highlighting the key components of the mission, Rajput said that 100 advanced AI data labs will be developed across the state.
The initiative will also establish five Centres of Excellence to promote research, innovation and technological development.
He said more than 300 AI startups will receive financial and technical assistance to encourage innovation and entrepreneurship among young people.
The mission is also expected to provide specialised AI training to approximately 6 lakh students and 1.5 lakh government employees.
For improving government service delivery, more than 50 AI-based services will be developed, with the objective of making government functioning faster, more transparent and easier for citizens.
“AI Mission Will Strengthen Chhattisgarh’s Digital Future”
Rajput said the Chhattisgarh AI Mission is aligned with the Government of India’s IndiaAI Mission and would help establish Chhattisgarh as a responsible, innovation-driven and future-oriented digital state.
He said the initiative has the potential to create new opportunities in technology, education, entrepreneurship and public administration.
Rajput also criticised the Congress over its record on technology and computerisation.
He referred to Congress leaders’ frequent references to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi’s vision of computerising India and alleged that despite decades in power, successive Congress governments failed to translate that vision into meaningful action on the ground.
He claimed that while Congress “spoke about technology”, the BJP-led government under Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai is now implementing technology-driven policies through concrete programmes.
Rajput described the AI Mission as a potential milestone in Chhattisgarh’s digital transformation and said it could give new momentum to innovation, skill development and technology-led governance across the state.
