In a remarkable step toward sustainable agriculture, women of Prayas and Unnati Self-Help Groups from Mokhla and Bharregawn villages have shown how natural farming can transform both the environment and livelihoods. These Krishi Sakhis have emerged as role models by adopting bio-input production and promoting chemical-free farming across their region.

The SHG members have taken the initiative to prepare various cow-based organic formulations such as Jeevamrit, Beejamrit, Dharnamrit, Agneyastra, Brahmastra, Nimashtra, and Dashparni Ark. Their efforts aim at reducing the cost of cultivation for farmers while making natural farming easily accessible.

With training and guidance from the Agriculture Department, the groups established village-level Bio-Input Resource Centres (BRCs), where high-quality organic inputs and all natural farming materials are made available to farmers at very affordable prices. As a result, many farmers have shifted from chemical pesticides and fertilizers to purely bio-based alternatives for pest control and plant health.

Recognizing the innovative efforts of these women, the Agriculture Department integrated the groups with the National Natural Farming Mission, assigning them the responsibility of supplying bio-inputs across a 375-acre cluster area. The SHGs have successfully delivered recommended organic solutions to farmers in Dhamansara, Dhodiya, Bhodiya, Mokhla, Bharegawn, Bankal, and Paneka—right from sowing to harvesting stages.

During the Kharif season alone, the Krishi Sakhis distributed 1,200 litres of Dashparni Ark and 1,200 litres of Brahmastra and Nimashtra. They not only produced the materials but also demonstrated their application directly in the fields, ensuring farmers understood proper usage. Their collective efforts helped each SHG member earn up to ₹1 lakh this season.

Neetu Chandrakar, President of the Bharregawn BRC, expressed pride in contributing to natural farming. She said that creating bio-inputs brings satisfaction and also inspires them to raise awareness about the harmful effects of chemical farming. She aims to expand the BRC further and involve more women, reaching even more farmers with high-quality organic inputs.
