Will History Repeat In Rajnandgaon Municiple Corporation”

  • Will People See Shiv Verma As Municple Chairman With Madhusudan As Mayor
  • Madhusudan Will Sworn In As Mayor Today
  • Rajnandgaon Municipal Corporation Presidential Election Today
  • Ironically Shiv Verma, a six-time consecutive councilor, remains absent in speculations

Rajnandgaon (BTI) – Today, the election for the President of the Rajnandgaon Municipal Corporation is set to take place. The Mayor’s swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for 10 AM, followed by the presidential election at 12 PM.

Rajnandgaon, a politically significant region, has been represented by Dr. Raman Singh, who served as Chief Minister for 15 years and is currently an MLA and also the assembly speaker.. In the recent municipal elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured victory in 40 out of 51 wards. Hence, the upcoming election will undoubtedly result in a BJP president. However, the major question remains: Will history repeat itself, and will the city once again witness the duo of Madhusudan and Shiv Verma in the Municipal Corporation? Or will someone else take Shiv Verma’s place?

Madhusudan has already secured a massive victory as Mayor, breaking previous records. Now, the key question is whether Shiv Verma will reclaim the presidential position, just like in 2014.

Shiv Verma Absent from Speculation
Local discussions suggest that Shiv Verma’s name is missing from all speculations. Even media reports barely mention him, much like the pre-selection phase of Chief Ministers in Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and recently in Delhi. Some speculate based on educational background, financial standing, or political connections of the candidates. However, it is surprising that Shiv Verma, a six-time consecutive councilor, is completely absent from the discussion. This reflects a shift in the thought process of the current political generation.

It is worth mentioning that Shiv Verma is among the rare low-profile politicians in Rajnandgaon and the state. Despite being the Municipal Corporation President before, he found it uncomfortable to use the allocated four-wheeler and preferred riding his bike, and before that, a bicycle. In 2009, when Naresh Dakaliya of Congress was the Mayor, Shiv Verma served as the Leader of the Opposition and barely utilized the allocated vehicle.

Final Countdown to the Presidential Election
With just hours remaining for the Rajnandgaon Municipal Corporation Presidential election, public anticipation is at its peak. The key question remains: Who will be elected as the President?

If Shiv Verma is elected, it will provide relief to the BJP high command from various political dilemmas. However, if another candidate is chosen, it may spark numerous speculations and debates. Ultimately, whoever wins will have someone’s backing, but Shiv Verma is widely accepted by all. While Alok is also a strong contender, he still lags behind Shiv in this regard.

The election outcome will significantly impact BJP’s future direction in the district, helping local party members navigate their political strategies more effectively.
