350th Martyrdom Anniversary Procession of the Ninth Sikh Guru Reaches Rajnandgaon with Devotional Fervor

A grand welcome was accorded to the Shaheedi Yatra commemorating the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, the ninth Sikh Guru, upon its arrival in Rajnandgaon on Friday. The 10-day-long procession, organized by the Sikh community of Chhattisgarh, is dedicated to the life and sacrifice of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji—revered as “Hind Ki Chadar” for laying down his life in defense of religious freedom and human dignity.
The yatra, accompanied by devotional hymns and a Nagar-Kirtan, entered the city amidst a spiritual atmosphere. At Manav Mandir Chowk, the City District Congress Committee, led by its president Kulbir Singh Chhabra, extended an affectionate welcome to the procession. The arrival was marked with vibrant garlanding, floral tributes, and a dazzling display of fireworks that lit up the evening sky.
Tribute to Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji
Speaking on the occasion, City Congress president Kulbir Singh Chhabra recalled the Guru’s supreme sacrifice. He emphasized that Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji gave his life 350 years ago to protect the sacred symbols of Hindu dharma—tilak and janeu—and stood as a shield against religious persecution. “It is because of this unparalleled act of courage and sacrifice that he is rightfully honored as Hind Ki Chadar,” Chhabra said, adding that his legacy continues to inspire generations across communities.

Congress Leaders Participate in Large Numbers
The event saw the enthusiastic participation of senior Congress leaders and workers. Among the prominent attendees were Ramesh Dakaliya, City Congress Vice President Vikas Tripathi, Mohammad Yahya, General Secretary Jhamman Dewangan, Firoz Ansari, Amit Chandravanshi, Shakeel Rizvi, Atul Sharma, Pragya Gupta, Mohini Sinha, Mahila Congress President Maya Sharma, Surendra Dewangan, Bhola Yadav, Bharat Soni, Dr. Poshan Sahu, Surendra Gajbhie, Ishank Khan, Mamraj Agrawal, Sandeep Jaiswal, Sandeep Soni, and Sagar Tamrakar.
They, along with a large gathering of Congress workers and citizens, offered their respect to the Shaheedi Yatra with garlands, chants of devotion, and an atmosphere of unity. The presence of diverse community members underlined the spirit of harmony and reverence associated with the Guru’s teachings.

The 10-day-long Shaheedi Yatra is traversing across Chhattisgarh to spread awareness of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s teachings of peace, tolerance, and universal brotherhood. The Rajnandgaon stop marked one of the major highlights of the journey, drawing significant public participation and interfaith solidarity.
Organizers from the Sikh community expressed gratitude for the warm reception provided by the City Congress and citizens of Rajnandgaon. They emphasized that Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s message of faith, sacrifice, and humanity is timeless and remains profoundly relevant in today’s world.
