In a significant move to streamline welfare delivery, the Rajnandgaon Municipal Corporation has announced a comprehensive schedule for social security pension disbursement. To ensure ease and accessibility for thousands of pension beneficiaries, the corporation will organize ward-level camps across the city from September 29 to November 14, 2025. The camps will operate daily from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., allowing beneficiaries to collect their pending pensions for the months of June, July, and August 2025.

Objective Behind the Initiative

The decision to conduct ward-level camps comes in response to longstanding demands from pensioners who often face difficulties traveling to centralized distribution points. Many of the beneficiaries include senior citizens, widows, and persons with disabilities who depend on the timely release of pensions for their daily sustenance. By bringing the service directly to the wards, the corporation aims to make the system more inclusive, accessible, and transparent.

Municipal Commissioner Atul Vishwakarma emphasized that pension distribution is a matter of highest priority for the administration. He directed the staff deployed at these camps to ensure that no eligible beneficiary is deprived of their due payments. “Our responsibility is to guarantee that every pensioner receives their entitlement without delay or inconvenience. Camps have been designed keeping in mind the comfort of beneficiaries, especially those who face mobility challenges,” he said.

Camp Schedule for October

The detailed schedule for the upcoming camps has already been released.

  • On October 4, 2025, camps will be held for Government Printing Press Ward No. 6 and Maharani Laxmibai Ward No. 10 at the Community Hall near Shiv Mandir.
  • On October 6, 2025, beneficiaries of Chikhli Ward No. 5 will receive their pensions at Sheetla Mandir, Chikhli.
  • On October 7, 2025, camps will be organized for Mahatma Gandhi Ward No. 7 and Shankarpur Ward No. 9 at the Shankarpur Hospital premises.

Officials clarified that similar camps will be conducted for all remaining wards, with dates and venues to be announced progressively.

Importance of Social Security Pensions

The social security pension scheme forms a crucial pillar of the state government’s welfare framework. It provides financial support to vulnerable sections of society, including senior citizens, widows, differently-abled persons, and other marginalized groups. For many households, this pension is not just an allowance but a lifeline that covers essential needs such as food, healthcare, and basic utilities.

Delays in disbursement often create hardships, making this initiative especially significant. By scheduling camps across wards, the Rajnandgaon Municipal Corporation is not only ensuring timely payments but also reinforcing public trust in welfare governance.

Beneficiary Response and Expectations

Pensioners in the city have welcomed the initiative, expressing relief that they will not have to travel long distances or wait in crowded offices for their pensions. “For senior citizens like us, ward-level camps mean safety and dignity. We can now collect our pension without stress,” said one elderly beneficiary from Ward No. 6.

Local representatives have also appreciated the efforts of the civic body. They pointed out that such measures would prevent overcrowding and help maintain systematic record-keeping of disbursed pensions.

Administrative Preparedness

To ensure smooth operations, the corporation has deployed dedicated staff at each camp. Adequate seating arrangements, help desks, and verification counters are being set up. Beneficiaries have been advised to carry necessary identification documents to facilitate quick processing.

Commissioner Vishwakarma reiterated that strict instructions have been issued to the camp staff to extend maximum cooperation to the beneficiaries. “Officials must remain courteous and supportive. The focus is on service delivery with empathy,” he said.

Looking Ahead

The pension disbursement camps are expected to benefit several thousand beneficiaries across Rajnandgaon. The corporation has assured that efforts will be made to resolve any grievances on the spot, further strengthening the efficiency of the process.

This initiative also aligns with the broader state and national vision of “Good Governance at the Doorstep”, where welfare schemes are delivered in a citizen-friendly manner. By bridging administrative systems with public needs, Rajnandgaon sets a model for other municipal bodies across Chhattisgarh.
