Rajnanadgaon Event Honors Specially-Abled, Senior Citizens and Social Workers with Recognition and Support

The spirit of inclusivity and social welfare came alive in Rajnanadgaon as the Social Welfare Department organized a special program under the Seva Pakhwada initiative. The event, hosted at Gandhi Sabhagruh, featured a vibrant blend of cultural performances, prize distribution, assistive device allocation, and a felicitation ceremony for Divyangjans, senior citizens, and social workers committed to community service.
Leadership and Participation
The program witnessed the presence of several dignitaries, including District Panchayat President Mrs. Kiran Vaishnav, District Panchayat Members Mrs. Jagriti Sahu, Mrs. Devkumari Sahu, and Mrs. Kiran Barle, former Janpad Member Mrs. Meena Pureri, CEO of District Panchayat Ms. Suruchi Singh, Municipal Councillor and Chairman of Health Department Mr. Shanky Bagga, along with other representatives.

Addressing the gathering, District Panchayat President Mrs. Vaishnav highlighted the various government schemes aimed at empowering persons with disabilities. She stressed the importance of organizing such events and camps regularly to provide both recognition and practical support to the differently-abled community. She also commended the Social Welfare Department for its proactive efforts under Seva Pakhwada.
District Panchayat CEO Ms. Suruchi Singh echoed these sentiments, praising the department’s initiatives for the welfare of both Divyangjans and senior citizens.
Cultural Performances and Recognition
One of the highlights of the program was the participation of children from special schools, including Aastha, Abhilasha, Manokamana, and the Government School for Intellectually Disabled. These children delivered moving cultural performances, with themes ranging from drug de-addiction and cleanliness to women empowerment. Their spirited dances and skits drew applause from the audience, reflecting both talent and social awareness.
Winners of solo and group dance competitions were awarded by the chief guests. Previously held sports competitions for Divyang participants were also acknowledged, with winners receiving trophies and certificates.

Senior citizens from the Bhagwan Mahavir Samta Old Age Home were honored with traditional gestures of respect, including tilak, garlands, and shawls.
Felicitation of Social Workers
The ceremony also paid tribute to individuals and organizations that have consistently worked for the welfare of Divyangjans. Those honored included:
- Mr. C.A. Rupam Sonchhatra, Secretary of Abhilasha Sanstha
- Mr. Hemant Tiwari, Founder President of Aastha, along with current President Mr. Mahendra Surana
- Mr. Ratna Ostwal, Founder President of Manokamana Manovikas School
- Mr. Gautam Parakh, Founder of Bhagwan Mahavir Samta Old Age Home
- Mr. Shishupal Khobragade, Director of Samata Jankalyan, known for his dedicated work for the transgender community
Each was felicitated with a memento in recognition of their long-standing commitment to service.
Assistive Devices and Services
A special camp was also conducted during the event where Divyang beneficiaries received assistive devices to aid mobility and daily living. Additionally, services such as disability certificate renewal, UDID (Unique Disability ID) card creation, and bus pass issuance were provided on-site, ensuring convenience and accessibility.
Deputy Director of Social Welfare Mrs. Vaishali Mardwar delivered the welcome address, while the program was ably conducted by Ms. Nikhat Parveen Khan, Joint Secretary and Media In-charge of Aastha. The judging panel for the cultural competitions included Mrs. Rupam Sonchhatra, Chartered Accountant and Secretary of Abhilasha, and Mrs. Devki Singh Reddy, BRP from the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan.
Health check-ups were also conducted at the venue, with commendable support from Dr. Mahakalkar and his team.
Community Spirit
The event witnessed the participation of a large number of elected representatives, officials, employees, Divyangjans, senior citizens, and local residents. The collective enthusiasm reflected the community’s shared commitment to empowering differently-abled individuals and honoring senior citizens, thus promoting the inclusive values envisioned under Seva Pakhwada.
