Rajnandgaon-Based Atal Manch Praises Pilot’s Courage and Humanity, Calls for Formal Recognition

The Atal Manch, Rajnandgaon, has lauded the courage, presence of mind and humanitarian approach of Captain Smit Machchhar, who played a crucial role in averting a major potential tragedy during a serious in-flight emergency.
The organisation has called for Captain Machchhar to be honoured with a Shaurya Award, stating that his conduct during the crisis demonstrated courage, responsibility and commitment to protecting human life.
The Prime Minister’s Office has also publicly praised Captain Machchhar, saying his valour helped save hundreds of lives and avert a major tragedy despite him being seriously injured.
Atal Manch Praises Courage and Sense of Duty
Atal Manch Executive President Ashish Sharma, along with other office-bearers, said Captain Machchhar’s presence of mind and sense of duty played an important role in preventing a major incident.
The organisation said his actions during the crisis represented an example of courage and responsibility and called for appropriate recognition of his contribution.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also praised Captain Machchhar on October 1, describing him as a hero and stating that his courage and determination to protect others helped save hundreds of lives.
Appreciation for PM Modi’s Interaction with Family
Atal Manch members also appreciated Prime Minister Modi’s interaction with Captain Machchhar’s family following the incident.

According to reports, the Prime Minister spoke with his wife and parents, expressed appreciation for his bravery and assured the family of support.
The organisation said the Prime Minister’s immediate communication with the family reflected sensitivity towards the situation and recognition of Captain Machchhar’s actions.
“Captain Smit Demonstrated the Spirit of Humanity”
Ashish Sharma said Captain Machchhar’s actions went beyond merely responding to an emergency.
According to Sharma, by prioritising the protection of human life, Captain Machchhar demonstrated values such as humanity, compassion, justice, courage and responsibility.
He said the incident showed that even under extremely difficult circumstances, the protection of human life can remain the foremost priority.
The Prime Minister, while addressing the UPSC centenary celebrations, also referred to Captain Machchhar’s courage and said he had shown the world the highest form of courage.
Call for Formal Recognition
Atal Manch office-bearers said Captain Machchhar’s actions should be formally recognised and reiterated their demand that he be considered for a Shaurya Award.
They said his conduct during the crisis would serve as an example of courage, patience and responsibility for future generations.
Prayers for Captain Machchhar’s Recovery
The Atal Manch members also prayed to Lord Ganesha and Maa Durga for Captain Machchhar’s speedy recovery and long life.
The organisation expressed its wishes for his good health and recovery during the auspicious period of Navratri.
The Prime Minister has likewise expressed his wishes for Captain Machchhar’s speedy recovery, renewed strength and good health.
