A political controversy has emerged in Rajnandgaon over an allegation that a song linked to Naxalite commander Hidma was played at high volume on a DJ during the Ganesh immersion tableau and that Congress district general secretary Devesh Vaishnav allegedly danced to it.
Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) Rajnandgaon district president Chintu Sonkar approached the Collectorate and submitted a complaint seeking an impartial investigation into the matter and registration of an FIR if the allegations are found to be correct.
A separate local media report has also reported the BJYM complaint and its demand for action against Vaishnav.
BJYM Seeks Verification of Song, Video and Circumstances
According to the BJYM allegation, the song linked to Hidma was played during the Ganesh immersion tableau on the night of September 26.
However, the original video capturing the alleged song being played at the event has not been established in the material provided. BJYM has circulated a poster on social media showing Devesh Vaishnav allegedly dancing, and has sought an investigation based on this material.
The organisation has called for verification of the actual content of the song, the circumstances in which it was played, the authenticity and context of the circulated material, and the role of the concerned Congress office-bearer.
The Ganesh immersion tableau was held in Rajnandgaon on September 26 after being postponed by a day due to rain. Local reports said the procession continued through the night and attracted large crowds.
BJYM Raises Jhiram Valley Reference
Sonkar also linked the controversy to the Jhiram Valley Naxalite attack, raising questions about the political sensitivity of references associated with Hidma.
According to Sonkar, several senior Congress leaders and workers were killed in the Jhiram Valley attack, and former Rajnandgaon Congress leader and former MLA Uday Mudaliar was also among those killed.
Sonkar argued that allegations involving a district-level political office-bearer should therefore be examined seriously in view of the history and victims associated with Naxalite violence.

Rahul Gandhi Social Media Post Also Cited
The BJYM district president also referred to Congress’s national-level social media activity while raising questions about the alleged incident.
Sonkar referred to claims concerning a slogan associated with Hidma and said that Union Home Minister Amit Shah had referred to a related video allegedly shared by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on social media.
However, the alleged national-level social media activity and the Rajnandgaon incident are separate matters. No direct organisational connection between the two has been established in the material currently available.
Political Questions Raised Over Alleged Link
The BJYM has also raised a political question regarding what it described as an alleged connection between Congress and content associated with Hidma.
Sonkar said the issue may appear limited to a song played during a public event, but argued that political office-bearers should exercise additional caution regarding material associated with the history of Naxalite violence and its victims.
The matter now depends on the outcome of any administrative or police inquiry, including verification of the song’s actual content, whether and when it was played during the tableau, the authenticity and context of the circulated material, and the response of the concerned Congress office-bearer.
At present, the allegations remain allegations. The BJYM has submitted its complaint and sought investigation and action if the claims are substantiated.
