Former BJP State General Secretary Submits Memorandum to Collector, Demands Technical Audit of Construction Quality, Materials and Expenditure

Allegations regarding the quality and execution of ongoing road construction works between Khairagarh and Rajnandgaon and on the Rajnandgaon–Mohla-Manpur route have triggered a fresh demand for investigation.
Former BJP state general secretary Bharat Verma submitted a memorandum addressed to Rajnandgaon Collector Jitendra Yadav through the Additional District Magistrate on Wednesday, seeking an inquiry into the alleged irregularities and action against officials and the contractor if wrongdoing is established.
Verma Alleges Irregularities in Road Project
According to Verma, road construction works involving an expenditure of approximately ₹300 crore have raised serious questions over construction quality.
He alleged that deficiencies could be seen at several locations on the road project and claimed that complaints had surfaced regarding work not being carried out according to prescribed standards.
Verma further alleged that portions of GSB and VT work were coming apart at various locations even while construction was still underway. He also alleged the use of substandard material and claimed that irregularities were taking place in alleged collusion between the contractor, identified by him as Kanhaiya, and officials.
These allegations have been raised by Verma and have not been established through an independent inquiry.
Demand for Independent Technical Examination
Verma demanded a detailed technical examination of the construction, including testing of the materials being used in the project.
He also sought an independent technical assessment of the entire construction work, examination of the construction material and a review of any differences between the approved Detailed Project Report (DPR) and the work being carried out on the ground.
He said that a large amount of public money is being spent on the road and that questions regarding its quality should be examined through an impartial process.

Earlier Concerns Also Raised, Says Verma
Verma said he had previously raised concerns regarding alleged irregularities in this road project as well as other construction works associated with national highways.
He said he had earlier sought an examination of the role of officials and the concerned contractor in relation to the quality of road construction.
Memorandum Also Submitted to PWD Minister
Verma said that he had also submitted a memorandum to Public Works Minister Arun Sao on Tuesday during the Chief Minister’s visit to Rajnandgaon.
According to Verma, the memorandum submitted to the PWD Minister sought an inquiry into the quality of the construction work and the allegations of corruption. He also sought action against officials and contractors if any wrongdoing was established through the investigation.
The memorandum submitted to Collector Jitendra Yadav on Wednesday similarly sought a technical investigation, quality testing and review of expenditure incurred on the road construction.
“Impartial Investigation Necessary”
Speaking to the media, Verma said that when questions are being raised over the quality of a road project involving expenditure of hundreds of crores of rupees, an impartial investigation is necessary.
He said that if irregularities are established at any level following the investigation, action should be taken against those found responsible.
