In view of the massive influx of devotees during the Navratri festival, authorities have implemented unprecedented security measures for the renowned Maa Bamleshwari Fair in Dongargarh. An estimated 1 to 1.2 million श्रद्धालु are expected to visit the temple over the nine-day festival, prompting Rajnandgaon Police to adopt a comprehensive and high-alert security strategy.
A total of 850 police personnel, including officers and जवान from across the state, have been deployed in and around the fair premises starting today. Superintendent of Police Ankita Sharma, Commandant Prashant Katlam, and Additional SP Kirtan Rathore conducted a detailed briefing session, outlining clear instructions and responsibilities for all deployed forces.
Four-Zone Security Framework Implemented
To ensure smooth crowd movement and effective law enforcement, the entire fair area has been divided into four major zones and several sub-sectors:
Zone 1 (Temple Area):
This zone covers the main temple premises, including the sanctum (garbhagriha), staircase routes for devotees, drop gates, domes, and surrounding areas. Special monitoring has also been arranged for the ropeway.
Zone 2 (Lower Temple & Fair Grounds):
Security arrangements include the lower temple premises, fairground areas, railway crossing, underbridge, and Dongargarh railway station.
Zone 3 (Traffic & Parking):
A detailed traffic plan has been enforced from Anjora Bypass to Dongargarh, with diversions in place. Designated parking zones have been set up at key locations such as Gurudwara, Ambedkar Chowk, and the bus stand.

Zone 4 (Law & Order):
This zone focuses on maintaining overall law and order, fair management, and handling emergency situations.
QRT and Special Surveillance Teams on Duty
Quick Response Teams (QRT) have been stationed round-the-clock to handle emergencies swiftly. Additionally, special crime control units are actively patrolling the area to monitor suspicious activities and prevent organized criminal elements from exploiting the large gathering.
Four Key Focus Areas
The police strategy for this year revolves around four critical aspects:
Temple security
Crime prevention
Traffic regulation
Parking management
Facilitating Devotee Movement
In a significant move to ease transportation, most passenger, express, and mail trains passing through Dongargarh railway station will have temporary stoppages during the fair period. This is expected to facilitate smoother travel for devotees arriving from Nagpur, Akola, Balaghat, Jabalpur, Khairagarh, Bastar, Balod, Raipur, and Durg.
Public Advisory Issued
The police administration has urged devotees to adhere to designated routes, remain vigilant in crowded areas, and immediately report any suspicious activity to authorities.
With faith drawing millions every year, the Maa Bamleshwari Fair remains a major spiritual congregation. This year, however, authorities are placing equal emphasis on safety and systematic management to ensure a seamless and secure experience for all visitors.
