One-Day Workshop on Menstrual Health and Hygiene Held at Kamla College, Rajnandgaon

Gynecologists highlight myths, disease prevention and importance of HPV vaccination

Kamla Devi Rathi Government Women’s Postgraduate College, Rajnandgaon, organised a one-day workshop on “Menstrual Health and Hygiene” under the aegis of its Women’s Cell. The programme was conducted under the guidance and inspiration of College Principal Dr Anjali Avadhiya.

The workshop aimed at creating awareness among students regarding menstrual health, hygiene practices and prevention of gynaecological diseases. The event witnessed active participation from students, faculty members and invited health experts.

The chief guest, Dr Surabhi Mahobe, gynaecologist, and special guest, Dr Ambalika Thakur, gynaecologist, provided detailed insights into health issues faced by women during menstruation and related medical conditions. Dr Mahobe addressed prevalent social myths surrounding women’s reproductive health and discussed effective ways to dispel them through awareness and scientific understanding.

Dr Ambalika Thakur emphasised the importance of HPV vaccination in the prevention of cervical cancer and encouraged students and women faculty members to take proactive steps towards safeguarding their health.

Representatives from the Women and Child Development Department also participated in the workshop and administered an oath to all present, pledging collective efforts towards the prevention of child marriage.

Women’s Cell Coordinator Dr Yugeshwari Sahu elaborated on the multidimensional objectives of the workshop, while the programme was conducted by Mrs Neelam Ram Dhansay. Students were given the opportunity to interact directly with medical experts and seek solutions to their health-related queries.

Several faculty members and students were present on the occasion, including Dr Brijbala Udke, Dr Neeta S Nair, Dr Upa Sonwani, Dr Chetna Gupta, Dr Durga Sharma, Mrs Khushboo Rajput, Mrs Kamini Devangan, Ms Priya Talreja, Ms Geeta Sahu, Ms Harsha Kushwaha, Mrs Shailja Tiwari and Mrs Sanvi Panjwani, among others.

At the conclusion of the programme, Mrs Neelam Ram Dhansay expressed gratitude to all guests and participants. The workshop proved to be a significant initiative in promoting awareness about women’s health, hygiene and social responsibility among students.
