With the aim of ensuring adequate street lighting and improving public safety during Diwali, the Rajnandgaon Municipal Corporation has intensified efforts to install new lights, replace damaged streetlights and repair existing lighting infrastructure across the city.

So far, nearly 1,000 new LED lights have been installed across all 51 wards within the municipal limits. The civic body is also repairing faulty lights and improving illumination in dark and accident-prone areas. Through these measures, the Municipal Corporation is seeking to provide residents with better-lit streets as a Diwali gift.

New Lights Installed on Councillors’ Recommendations

The initiative was taken forward following the efforts of Mayor Madhusudan Yadav. After obtaining government approval for purchasing lights through the councillors’ development fund, the Municipal Corporation completed the departmental procedures and began installing new lights in different wards based on recommendations from councillors. Old and damaged lights were also replaced.

Mayor Yadav and Municipal Commissioner G.R. Markam have further taken steps to ensure adequate lighting across the wards during the Diwali festival. Special attention has been given to damaged streetlights, accident-prone locations, major roads and prominent intersections.

High-Mast Lights at Key Intersections

To improve visibility at locations with a higher possibility of road accidents, high-mast lights have been installed at important points. A high-mast light has been set up at Rewadih Chowk, where the possibility of accidents is considered high. High-mast lighting has also been installed at major intersections across the city.

In addition, old poles fitted along the dividers of major roads have been removed and replaced with new tubular poles.

Around 300 New Lights Along National Highway Road
