BJP Mahila Morcha welcomes appointment; Pushpa Gaikwad targets Congress over women representation

Bharatiya Janata Party Mahila Morcha’s newly appointed District President Pushpa Gaikwad, while addressing a women’s conference organized at the BJP office, took a sharp dig at the Congress party, alleging that women do not receive due respect within Congress. She stated that across the country, Congress is facing criticism for its alleged anti-women policies, claiming that the party did not allow the Women’s Reservation Bill to be passed in the Lok Sabha.
Gaikwad emphasized that the Bharatiya Janata Party has consistently remained committed to implementing the bill and expressed confidence that the Modi government would fulfill its responsibility towards women empowerment by ensuring its passage in the future.
Mahila Morcha Welcomes Key Appointments
Mahila Morcha Vice President Parul Jain and General Secretary Mithleshvari Vaishnav stated that the Vishnu Deo Sai-led state government has always demonstrated confidence in women leadership. They highlighted recent organizational and institutional appointments where women have been entrusted with significant responsibilities.
According to the leaders, Purnima Sahu has been appointed as Chairperson of the Rajgami Sampada Trust, marking the first time that such responsibility has been given to a woman leader. Similarly, Bhilai-based Sushma Jethani has been appointed as the Chhattisgarh President of the Sindhi Sahitya Academy.
Recognition for Grassroots Leadership
Speakers at the conference noted that several senior leaders had aspired for these prestigious positions, yet the BJP chose to honour Purnima Sahu, a leader from a modest grassroots background. Pushpa Gaikwad said the party gives equal attention to both new and experienced workers, adding that she herself had never imagined becoming the District President of the Mahila Morcha.
She further mentioned that Kiran Vaishnav has also been entrusted with an important responsibility as District Panchayat President, describing it as another example of growing women leadership within governance and politics.
Growing Confidence Among Women in Politics
Gaikwad said that such appointments strengthen the confidence of homemakers and working women participating in politics. With increasing participation of women in political life, she expressed belief that “Matrushakti” will continue to expand its influence and leadership presence in the coming years.
Members of the Mahila Morcha expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh, and District President Komal Singh Rajput for appointing Purnima Sahu as Chairperson of the Rajgami Sampada Trust.
