In one of the most humiliating electoral routs in recent Indian political history, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has been completely decimated in the Bihar Assembly elections, losing its deposit in all 99 seats it contested and managing to secure a pathetic 0.30% of the total votes polled – a vote share that is actually lower than NOTA (0.42%).The figures, confirmed by the Election Commission this evening, mark the worst-ever performance by any national party in Bihar and have triggered shockwaves inside AAP’s national headquarters in Delhi.

Key Highlights of the DisasterAAP contested 99 seats (its highest ever in Bihar) Highest vote share on any seat: 1.87% (Kishanganj) – still lost deposit Lowest vote share: 0.07% (several rural seats in Seemanchal and Magadh) Total votes polled by AAP across Bihar: ≈ 1.18 lakh out of nearly 4 crore valid votes NOTA outperformed AAP in 87 out of 99 seats the party contested In at least 23 constituencies, independent rebels and little-known local candidates polled more votes than AAP Senior AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh, who was personally overseeing the Bihar campaign, appeared stunned while addressing the media: “We accept the people’s verdict with humility. We will introspect.”

How the Dream Turned into a NightmareBuoyed by its Delhi and Punjab victories, AAP had announced a mega expansion plan in Bihar earlier this year:Arvind Kejriwal held over 18 rallies across the state Announced “free electricity, free water, Mohalla clinics” for Bihar Fielded several ex-IAS, ex-IPS officers and social activists Spent crores on social media campaigns and LED vans Yet, the party failed to open its account even on a single seat and ended up behind NOTA in almost every constituency it fought.Political analysts termed it the “biggest overreach” by any party in Bihar after the 2020 debacle of RLSP and LJD.

Opposition Celebrates, NDA MocksBihar Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary took a dig: “Some people thought they could copy-paste Delhi model in Bihar. People of Bihar have shown them their real ‘aucat’.”RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav posted a laughing emoji and wrote: “Welcome to Bihar politics. Yeh dilwale dulhaniya le jayenge nahi, yahan dil hi tod dete hain!

”Even Congress leaders privately admitted they were relieved, as AAP’s presence had threatened to cut into their urban votes. What Next for AAP?With this crushing defeat, questions are now being raised about Arvind Kejriwal’s national ambitions:Huge financial loss (deposits of ₹15 lakh per seat forfeited = nearly ₹15 crore gone) Damage to the party’s “national alternative” narrative ahead of 2029 Lok Sabha polls Morale of grassroots workers across Hindi heartland at an all-time low

As one veteran journalist in Patna remarked tonight: “AAP came to Bihar dreaming of becoming the third force. They are leaving as the fourth-class party – behind NDA, Mahagathbandhan, and now even NOTA.”For Arvind Kejriwal and his team, Bihar 2025 will be remembered not as a launchpad, but as the graveyard of their national dreams.
