160 cases under BNSS, 30 under the Arms Act and nine under Excise and NDPS laws during September 13–24 campaign

Special Drive Continues During Ganesh Festival
The Rajnandgaon Police have intensified their special drive against habitual offenders, surveillance-listed criminals and anti-social elements to maintain peace and law and order during the Ganesh festival.
Under the direction of Superintendent of Police Ankita Sharma, police took action in a total of 199 cases between September 13 and September 24, 2026.
The campaign has focused on taking preventive and legal action against individuals and activities considered capable of affecting law and order during the festival period.
160 Actions Under BNSS
According to the police, action was taken in 160 cases under Section 170 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) during the 12-day period.
In addition, 30 cases were registered under the Arms Act, while action was taken in seven cases under Section 34(2) of the Excise Act and two cases under the NDPS Act.

Together, these accounted for the 199 cases in which action was taken during the period.
Increased Patrolling and Surveillance
In view of the Ganesh festival, police personnel have continued patrolling and surveillance in sensitive areas across the district.
Special attention is being given to the activities of suspicious persons and individuals whose actions could affect law and order.
The police have stated that preventive and legal action against elements disturbing public peace will continue as required.
Appeal for Peaceful and Safe Celebrations
Rajnandgaon Police have appealed to citizens to cooperate with the police in ensuring that the Ganesh festival concludes in a peaceful, safe and harmonious environment.
The department has emphasised continued vigilance and necessary action to maintain public order during the festival.
