Terror at Midnight: Masked Mob of 20+ Wields Swords & Sticks, Smashes Newly Opened Bhopal Café

Gruesome attack in Misrod – Furniture shattered, staff injured; owner names five including ‘Yogi’ and ‘Nikhil Abhishek’ in FIR

A chilling wave of violence struck the quiet Misrod neighbourhood late Tuesday night when more than 20 masked men armed with swords, hockey sticks and iron rods stormed into “The Urban Brew”, a café that had opened its doors barely ten days ago. The brutal attack left the premises in ruins, several employees injured and the owner traumatised.

According to the FIR lodged at Misrod police station by café owner Rohan Malviya (32), the assailants barged in around 11:45 PM, shouted threats and began vandalising everything in sight – glass tables, LED screens, coffee machines and expensive decor worth lakhs were destroyed within minutes. Two staff members sustained head injuries and multiple bruises while trying to shield customers, who miraculously escaped unhurt by hiding in the kitchen and washrooms.

In the complaint, Malviya has specifically named five individuals – Yogi (alias Yogendra Singh Rajput), Nikhil Abhishek, Shivam Tiwari, Ankit Patel and Deepak Kushwaha – besides “15-20 unidentified masked persons”. He alleges the attack was premeditated and linked to an ongoing monetary dispute and “extortion demands” made over the past week.

Eyewitnesses described scenes of absolute panic: “They came on 8-10 motorcycles, faces covered with black cloth. Some brandished talwars (swords) while others swung lathis wildly. Within five minutes the entire café was turned upside down,” said a neighbouring shopkeeper who rushed to the spot after hearing screams.

Police reached the spot within 15 minutes and have seized broken furniture, blood-stained rods and a sword left behind by the fleeing attackers. CCTV footage clearly shows the masked mob entering and ransacking the café. Senior officers confirmed that multiple teams have been formed to nab the accused.

SP (South) Bhopal, Siddharth Choudhary, told reporters, “This is a case of organised criminal intimidation. Raids are underway at the hideouts of the named accused. Whoever is involved will be arrested soon and the strictest action will be taken.”Local residents and the Bhopal Café & Restaurant Owners’ Association have condemned the incident, demanding immediate arrests and enhanced night patrolling in the fast-developing Misrod-Hoshangabad Road belt. The association has also announced it will provide legal and financial assistance to the affected café.

As shattered glass still litters the floor of The Urban Brew and blood stains mark the counter, the incident has raised serious questions about safety and growing audacity of criminal elements in the capital’s outskirts. Investigation is on, and the city waits for swift justice.
