In a heartwarming incident reflecting sensitivity and prompt action, Basantpur Police reunited a missing divyang (specially-abled) child with his mother on Monday, April 13, 2026. The emotional reunion at the police station moved everyone present, as the mother rushed towards her son and embraced him with tears of relief and joy.

Child Found Wandering at Durga Chowk

Under the jurisdiction of Basantpur Police Station, a divyang child was found wandering near Durga Chowk. The child was unable to reveal his identity or provide any information about his family members.

Considering the situation, Basantpur Police immediately took the child into protective custody and began efforts to trace his guardians.

Identification Through Quick Police Action

The police team clicked the child’s photograph using a mobile phone and circulated it through various communication channels. Soon, the child was identified as Krishna Sahu (8 years old).

After some time, his mother, Mrs. Usha Sahu (wife of Jagdish Sahu)—originally a resident of Belkheda, Jabalpur district and currently living in Lavani Bhata, Dongargarh, Rajnandgaon—arrived at the police station.

Upon seeing his mother, the child immediately recognized her. Overcome with emotion, the mother ran toward her son and hugged him tightly, shedding tears of happiness while onlookers breathed a collective sigh of relief.

During questioning, Usha Sahu informed police that she had come to the Rajnandgaon Collector Office to get her son’s Aadhaar card prepared. However, due to an error in the name, the work could not be completed.

Later, at her son’s insistence, she took him to Rani Sagar Chowpatty for an outing and rides. While the child was playing, he unknowingly walked away toward the city, while the mother remained seated in the shade to avoid the heat.

Meanwhile, police personnel noticed the wandering child and safely brought him to the police station, initiating efforts to locate his family.

Safe Handover and Assistance by Police

After completing necessary formalities, the police handed the child over to his mother. Demonstrating further care, police personnel escorted them to the bus heading toward their destination.

After boarding the bus, the grateful mother expressed heartfelt thanks to the police team for their timely help and compassion.

A Reflection of Humanity in Policing

The incident has highlighted the humane and compassionate side of the police force. Often surrounded by criticism, such initiatives reaffirm that police personnel are committed not only to maintaining law and order but also to safeguarding society with empathy and responsibility.

The safe reunion strengthened public trust and served as a reminder that sensitivity and dedication can reinforce a sense of security within the community.
