Special Campaign Launched to Enroll Eligible Beneficiaries Under PM Matru Vandana Yojana by August 15

Women & Child Development Department intensifies outreach to ensure maternity benefits for pregnant and lactating mothers in Rajnandgaon

In an effort to ensure wider coverage of maternal health benefits, the Department of Women and Child Development is conducting a special drive till August 15, 2025, to identify and enroll new eligible beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY). This central government scheme is designed to improve the health and nutrition of pregnant women and lactating mothers by providing partial wage compensation in the form of cash incentives.

According to District Programme Officer Gurpreet Kaur, during the financial year 2024–25, a total of 7,293 women benefited from the scheme, while over 2,000 women have already been supported in 2025–26.

Under PMMVY, women are entitled to:

  • ₹3,000 as the first installment upon early registration of pregnancy and completion of at least one antenatal check-up within six months.
  • ₹2,000 as the second installment after childbirth, upon registering the child’s birth and administering the first cycle of immunizations including BCG, Polio, DTP, and Hepatitis B.
  • In case the second child is a girl, a one-time payment of ₹6,000 is provided.

To avail of the benefits, women must ensure their Aadhaar-linked bank account, and mandatory registration at the nearest Anganwadi center. Required documents include:

  • Self, spouse, and family member’s mobile numbers
  • Bank account details
  • Mother-child protection card (Jachha-Bachha Card)
  • Aadhaar card
  • Proof of eligibility such as Ration Card, Ayushman Card, e-Shram Card, or MGNREGA Job Card
  • Birth certificate and full immunization details in case of the second girl child

Applicants must submit their forms within 570 days from their Last Menstrual Period (LMP) or within 270 days of childbirth.
