Crackdown on Public Drinking Continues in Rajnandgaon District

As part of an ongoing campaign against substance abuse and public drinking, the Somni Police conducted surprise raids at resorts and roadside eateries in the Mangata and Jhuradabri areas, taking action against individuals found consuming alcohol in public places. A total of 14 persons were booked under various provisions of the Excise Act during the operation.
The action was carried out under the direction of Superintendent of Police Ankita Sharma, guidance of Additional Superintendent of Police Kirtan Rathore, and supervision of City Superintendent of Police Alexander. The operation was led by Somni Police Station In-charge Inspector Dilip Patel.

During the raid near Maple Resort in Jhuradabri, police found 13 individuals consuming alcohol in a public place. Cases were registered against them under Section 36(C) of the Excise Act.
In a separate inspection of roadside establishments, police found that Kuldeep Singh, operator of Sher-e-Punjab Dhaba in Devada village, was allegedly facilitating alcohol consumption by customers on the premises. A case was registered against him under Section 36(C) of the Excise Act.
Additionally, one more individual was found consuming alcohol in a public place near Hamara Dhaba in Devada and was booked under the relevant provisions of the Excise Act.
Police officials stated that special drives targeting anti-social elements and illegal activities around hotels, resorts, dhabas, and lodges will continue in the coming days. The operation is being viewed as a significant step toward maintaining law and order and curbing alcohol-related nuisance in the district.
