Maintaining law and order in the city during the 10day auspicious Ganesh festival has always been a challenge for the police administration. This year too, several pandals have been set up across the city. On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday was also celebrated, leading to events in areas such as Sheetla Mandir, Rani Sagar, Gurudwara area and many other parts of the city. The increased number of visitors resulted in greater hustle and bustle than on normal days.

In view of this, Superintendent of Police Ankita Sharma herself went out to review the security arrangements. Around 7:30 pm on Thursday evening, she reached Mata Mandir Chowk. There she inspected the crowd, the movement of vehicles and the police deployment. The presence of the SP on the spot clearly boosted the alertness of the police personnel. She took stock of the arrangements from the officers and jawans present and issued necessary directions.

SP Ankita Sharma has already gone out on the roads three or four times earlier to review the arrangements. Today’s round was particularly busy. Accompanied by the police force, she inspected the sensitive areas of the city. Through continuous patrolling, surveillance and action,  the police administration is sending a clear message to antisocial elements that any attempt to disturb law and order during the Ganesh festival will not be tolerated. The objective of the police’s proactive measures is to prevent any potential dispute or unpleasant incident at the  very initial stage.
